The last I heard AT&T was in talks with apple to extend exclusivity but for Apple it doesn't really make sense anymore. I mean I guess they could get a bigger share of the monthly bills but I think putting all these iPhones on AT&T's network is probably gonna overload it. they need to spread out or they'll could bring AT&T's network to it's knees. I expect network problems if this $99 iPhone takes off, which it will.
AT&T is already limiting what you can do on it's network which is why Slingplayer is Wi-fi only yet it's not wifi only for the blackberry version.

Anyone else think that this $99 8gb iPhone is going to destroy the Palm Pre? I think the Pre has some worthwhile features over the iPhone but it just doesn't seem worth it considering it costs $200 more (only $100 after MIR). before I was recommending the Pre to some people but now, I think the 8gb iPhone is the better value.

it's me, Alan Rickman.
^^ One of the attorneys @ work had a chance to play with the pre and he was not impressed.. he was holding out for it but since the keyboard more or less sucks the big one he is going with an iPhone

so i just watched the video for the find my iphone option.
http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/09/f...nd-our-iphone/
anyways looks like if someone were to reset your phone, your phone is pretty much gone, because it gives a warning when you remote wipe that your phone will not be able to be located and messages cant be sent to it anymore.
also how easy is it to get to those mobile me settings screen? do you have to enter in a password or can you just goto it.
kind of defeats the purpose if you can easily go into those settings and just turn off the find me option.

how sweet would it be if lojack was like this?
make the car ping a sound saying "this car is stolen" and then slows to a stop and shuts off and starts flashing the highbeams breaklights hazard lights etc etc.
and then YOU could located it using your computer and show up guns ablazing

I was reading the list of new features available in snow leopard and came across this nice little feature.
To view the full list of features go here: http://www.apple.com/macosx/refineme...finements.html
HFS+ read support in Boot Camp.
Boot Camp now includes HFS+ read support that enables you to access the files on your Mac OS X partition from Windows. It’s read-only to prevent PC viruses from affecting Mac OS X, but you can easily save your work to your Windows partition and access it later from Mac OS X.

I just read that the iPhone 3G S' graphics processor supports open GL ES 2.0 and 1.1 where the 3G supports only 1.1, meaning that the graphics on the 3G S can look better.
Check it out on engadget

So the clock speed for the iPhone is 600mhz w/ 256mb ram. Up from 412mhz and 128mb ram on the first gen and 3G.

So far I'm enjoying the little changes. Landscape email is great, as is landscape sms. The search feature helps when finding an email or how to spell someones last name. Search doesn't index the message part of your emails so it could be better though. Disabling SMS preview and repeat alerts are welcome additions as is Autofill and the capability to remember username and passwords for sites. Most of this stuff should have been in version 1.0 but either way I'm glad to have them.

Here's a tip for you ppl with iPhones make sure you have an open spot for a new icon on the first page of your home screen. During the upgrade to 3.0 the voice memo app is added to the front page even if there isn't room for it. If there isn't room it takes the last icon and moves it to a new blank page by itself. So after the upgrade the first page will be filled with apps and then the next page will just have one icon and 15 blank spots and then the rest of your apps will be on the pages after that.
In regards to stability 3.0 is not as stable as 2.2.1 (which was pretty darn good) I've had safari and mail crash today and last night mail refused to open from the home page even though other apps worked, also 3.0 seems a little slower than 2.2.1 but it's not a big difference. So far it's no where near as bad as 2.0 was but it could be better. Also I'm not positive but I think my battery life might be worse since upgrading, I'll play with it some more to be sure.

The GM seed which should be final, it's version 3.0 (7A341), IDK if what they release will be a different build and if it'll be that different if it is.

it's me, Alan Rickman.
They say 3.0 7A341 GM is final but there is still a warning that states upgrading will permanently lock your phone into test mode and cannot be undone
Some of the devs are saying the warning existed on all betas and simply means you cannot go back to 2.2.1; others think it means you will not be able to get the public 3.0 when it comes out on the 17th... =/
OMG I can't wait to MMS oh nevermind.
Stunna - Ehhh... Gran Turino? Haven't seen either one but it looks goodish

the warning just means you can't downgrade back to a previous OS. It has no bearing on whether you can install the official release next week if you've got the dev version already installed.

you could, but rearranging apps on the iphone is a PITMFA!
That's one usability feature they really need to fix. I like keeping my apps organized like games on one page, utlities and reference apps on another, and apps I don't care much for all on one page, etc... but it's very hard to manage that with their current UI implementation.

^ I was able to get rid off the extra page by deleting some apps I don't use and then dragging that one icon to the now empty spot which then deleted the extra page since there wasn't an icon there anymore.

you know what they need to change? They need to change the Airplane mode since a lot of airplanes now have wifi they need to change it so that you can turn off the cell phone part but still do wifi while in airplane mode.

even more, it'd be nice if they had a "connections" tab or app that let you manage the on/off status of wi-fi, phone and bluetooth. It's annoying that wi-fi is on the main page of the settings app, but bluetooth is buried one level deeper.
