I like that the new iMac can simultaneously support an internal SSD and internal hard disk. That's sweet.
(Looks like only the 27" supports that)

I'm thinking about getting one for my mom cause her mouse is teh suck! I'm not sure if she'll like it though.
The 27in display is interesting, I'm curious to see how it compares to my Dell U2711 monitor.

$70 is hella expensive for a trackpad. But the damn mouse is $70 too.

It's in our nature Anil. We can send gifts to one another, but we can never do business with one another.

Apple's 24-inch and 30-inch Cinema Displays on the outs
By Ross Miller posted Jul 27th 2010 8:54PM
Now that Apple's unleashing a 27-inch Cinema Display in September, what's to become of its 24-inch and 30-inch bookend brethren? Straight from the mouths of Apple execs and disseminated by way of Macworld's Jason Snell -- a man who would most definitely be in the know -- the dynamic duo is being discontinued. End of the line is when supplies run out, so better place your orders now if you aren't hip to monitors with diagonal lengths divisible by 9.

I swung by the Apple store on the way home to see the trackpad but they didn't have it in stock and he didn't know when it would be there. I'll check back thursday.

Since I got my iMac I've been wanting a second monitor for it but didn't bother, until now, because couldn't find a 27" that matched up nicely with it. long term, I think it's a good choice for them.

I've been excited about this thing since the rumors about it started months ago.
I love my trackpad on my MBP and always wanted the same feature for my iMac...the magic mouse was a good hold me over...but I'm ready for the real deal.
And the new iMacs with dedicated graphics cards

The Multi-touch Trackpad update is out also which adds kinetic scrolling to previous models that didn't have this feature so check software update for that as well.
If you want to enable it for Windows as well you can download that here
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4273
that link also lists what gestures are and aren't enabled in Windows

so if i wanted to i could replace my mouse with it.
only problem i would have is no more back button, since i can't do the 3 finger swipe to go back or forward.

I wouldn't do it. The lack of all the features in Windows make it not worth it and it's not like Windows can't support those features it's just that they aren't implementing them. I can't live with out my back or forward button.

To answer your question, my guess is because not many people wanted to hook up a secondary display and there was a time with bigger was seen as better so everyone wanted a 30". Could Apple have made a 30" that was in a 16x9 format, probably, don't know why they went down to a 27" size.
#153
Don't mind not having forward, but no back button is like having to crawl when you know how to walk.

Too bad that there doesn't appear to be a away to attach the magic pad to the keyboard. Duct tape worked for the iphone, maybe for this too.

Installing the drivers now
you need the drivers to enable all the multitouch features cause they aren't working out of the box. yes it's on snow leopard 10.6.4

I'm liking this trackpad. It's a much better experience than the mighty mouse it is replacing. I noticed that while I mouse with my right hand I definitely track with my left so the fact that this is wireless and I can move it from right to left is nice.
I wonder how well this trackpad is a doing precisions stuff like photoshop editing or FPS gaming. Usually trackpads aren't that good at that but with it's larger size it might not be that bad. I don't think I'll be able to test that though.
I've made my mom switch cold turkey, I took her mouse away from her and she is banned from using it. I don't think she's ever used a trackpad before, even when she had a PowerBook as her main machine she still always had a mouse attached to it. We'll see how it goes, I think she'll get used to it and like it.
