What did you do, get the Steel?
I figured you'd wait till the iWatch came out.
I've been thinking that I'll still go back to my pebble from time to time - like if I need the waterproofing (vs water resistant), or more likely - do a weekend trip and I don't want to lug the charger with me. With the pebble I can charge friday and be good to go till monday.

Best Buy which has them on sale. Will get the apple watch but love the pebble as well. For $200 for the steel it was an easy decision. I'll sell the old one.

Will.i.am's Puls wristband has its own 3G, support from AT&T
Not my style but 16GB, 3G. No price yet which interests me with all this stuff.
Will.i.am has just revealed the Puls at Dreamforce 2014, a smartwatch that doesn't need to be tethered to a phone to send texts, emails or make and take phone calls. In fact, Will kept saying it's not a watch, because smartwatches don't typically come with SIM cards, which the Puls does have, along with speakers and a touchscreen display that curves along with its body, making the device look more like a cuff than a traditional watch. The Puls (a product out of his wearable tech company, i.am+) has 16GB of storage onboard, 1GB of RAM, GPS, a battery that goes around the bracelet, pedometer and accelerometer, all powered by an Android-based platform and a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It connects to the internet not only via WiFi, but also via 3G, which means it has carrier partners: the Puls works with AT&T in the US and O2 in the UK.
As we've mentioned in the past, the watch comes with a music streaming service baked into it. It also has a voice assistant (another Siri rival, if you will) that can remind you to call people or of an event, wake you up, among other tasks similar programs can do, as well as a fitness app that monitors your workouts. Other than the watch itself, Will.i.am and his team have also designed accessories to go it: a jacket with battery packs that can charge the Puls so long as it touches the sleeve (each jacket can provide two-and-a-half days of power), a backpack with speakers, and shoes that weigh you and tells you how many steps you've taken in a day. The musician/entrepreneur didn't mention how much the Puls and its accessories will cost, but the wristband itself will be available this holiday season in select AT&T stores.

Apple Watch Pricing to Reportedly Start at $500 for Stainless Steel, $4,000 for Gold - Mac Rumors
$4,000! Are they fucking insane? Why not buy a Tag that will hold it's value over something that's battery will be dead and hardware outdated in 2 years?

I don't see how it could be so superior to comparable products that it deserves to be at that price point.

I don't see that happening yet in that small of a form factor.
Damn thing is ugly anyway. And that's coming from an Apple fanboy.

Yeah I thought it was ugly too. Even without looking at the screen I didn't care for the shape. Honestly once I saw the Moto G, I can care less for square smart watches. Now the Moto G in person didn't impress me so I'm still at least a year away I think but still the best looking IMO.

Comparing it to Android wear is moot since they don't work on iOS.
The only real competitor is pebble steel, at $200.
I look at the iwatch home screen and I get a headache. watches need to be simplified since the screen is so small. We'll see what it's like in practice.
The pebble is nice though, especially with the last update where it works for all notifications. If I had a steel I'd probabaly use it over my Moto 360 (for now). I'm using my 360 over my pebble (original) though. My GF jokingly called the original pebble my "crappy watch", hah.
I could really use:
1) android wear allowing me to force vibrate notification for wechat (which doesn't have it). Using augmented smartwatch works for now but.....
2) wechat to allow voice reply via watch. ALthough this is no use if I have to use augmented smartwatch to handle the notification.

It is one of the very few watches that nearly nailed it for me. I know the charging time is very fast and the latest updates have improved on the battery life, but I am waiting to hear more about the UI.
Apparently Android Wear is optimized for square faces. But the 360 has the classiest looking face out there. I'll wait a year as well, but it would be a nice complement if I get a giant of a phone like the N6.

Oliver!!!
The Asus Zenwatch comes out on Sunday. May be worth a look. Android wear, looks pretty stylish and $199 price tag. Comes with a leather band, but it looks pretty decent. It does have the charging contact on the back, but I'm sure that was done to keep the price down.

Square faces are ugly it just looks... feminine?
But they're a more efficient use of space.

I love the silver face on the 360. I need to play with one in person before I make the jump. Depends on how nice the screen looks at this point and how badly I want it after trying it.
Steel band looks great.

Well, charging contacts vs QI wireless charging or something like that. I've seen complaints from owners of the Samsung watches about the charging contacts getting dirtied by constant contact with skin. The more expensive Moto 360 uses QI.

Buddy of mine got a 360 and put a steel band on it. It looks okay, just too thick for my taste. If they had tapered the sides or something it may not look as bad, but that sharp edge just kills it for me.

Played with the Moto 360 today and didn't really dig the screen. The banding around the border was bugging me. Now I am torn between the LG G Watch R and the Sony Smart Watch 3. This video does a pretty good comparison but neglects to talk about the Sony being the first to have offline music support and being able to use the watch without it being connected to a smart phone. It also has a GPS which can be used by running apps for more accurate runs and has a transflective screen which is useful in bright environments.
On the other hand, the LG G Watch R with a brown leather band looks

From what I understand, it stores it on the watch. Its the first Android Wear Device to do so. You stream to any Bluetooth headphone via A2DP so you can leave your phone at home! It has the best spec out of the watches currently except its square. No HR monitor, although the other HR monitors seem to be inaccurate any way...

Not sure about the 360 but I like how with the LG G Watch R they made the band sizing a common one (22mm), which means you can just replace it with whatever you want

That bothers the hell out of some people, although I don't notice it really.
In general use, I definitely prefer a clockface with a black background.
When notifications first pop up it's a 'banner' so having a flat top/bottom feels normal.
When I expand the notification, it's definitely more obvious. You'd think I'd notice it then, but I don't, since it gets swiped away immediately.
The closet I could compare it to is if you had a weird spot on the inside edge of your car door. Yes, if you look/take a picture of the opened door, it's obvious and weird. But in practice, you just open the door, get in, and that's that.

I think for day to day use I'm just going to stick with my pebble.
The vibration is stronger, the battery lasts longer, screen can always stay on,
and it's waterproof.
The interface is also cleaner - i like that notifications appear by default full screen.
It means I can glance and swipe it away. With the 360 it's: turn on screen (maybe), read, expand, read, then swipe away.
It's just clunkier.
The 360 is prettier, so I guess i'll still wear it when I go out.
I almost never use the voice controls. The only thing I'll kinda miss is google now pushing NBA scores.
