Nexus 7 is still tempting, but I think there will be a new one this year. 7" is still a sweet spot for portable consumption. I do miss my iPad Mini in that respect.

A new one or 2nd Gen one?

I was always hoping if they made a new Nexus 7 it would actually be an 8in tablet instead.

My 1g Nexus 7 is basically resigned to being a e-reader, it's so slow and laggy...

I realized just how completely dead webOS was: very few of the apps still work, independent of the app store being gone. So, I just deleted it from the Touchpad and am updating from CM9 to CM11, long overdue. Hopefully this will fix the program has stopped errors.

Still thinking about a Nexus or the Pixel, but this might do me for now.

I decided last week that what I would like to have going forward is a full-featured Windows tablet like the SP4, and a 7-8" Android device for occasional browsing. So, the Touchpad is headed out to the shop, a SP4 might be on the horizon for later this summer, and I picked up a 2013 Nexus 7 earlier today to play around with. Manufactured in November, updating to 6.0.1 now.

The Touchpad is a bit too heavy and a touch too large to comfortably use in casual situations, so I'll send it out to the shop where I can write shop journal entries or stream music from, or just use for whatever.

Anyone have a current replacement idea for the above 1G Nexus 7? I like the size and I like Android.

Anyone hear anything about Google releasing a smaller Pixel tablet?

I want straight android, no overlays, but am hesitant to buy a Nexus7 2013 to replace my Nexus7 2012, simply due to the age of the device....

Not giving it the "O"?? What is the "O"?

I think I am looking for a 7-8 max size, I like the smaller form factor for what amounts to an e-reader and sofa-web device.

i'm using the Dev/beta version of Android O and honestly, i like the UI of the prior version better.
maybe the under the hood changes are more significant, but the UI on O leaves much desired. although, again, it's just the beta test version...so it could change when released

one example; on android N, the Ambient display option..."wake screen when notification is recieved" I enjoyed sliding up to view notifications..now, it's a double tap.
