Back when I was driving a Civic, I changed out all 4 tires for ~$250. Don't remember the brand but had 0 issues with it over a few years and 20k+ miles.
The TSX, after rebate, was still ~$800. I think it was the Michelin Premier. Salesman probably got me to shell out a bit more than a cheaper brand by claiming it's quieter.

Aside from size, what else makes tires cost that much more? I think I just saw an ad for Accord tires for ~$320 a set. How much of my $800 was bs fluff cost?

Brand, installation, tax, size, performance category, speed rating, etc.

Its also 2018.

Compare apples to apples. $800 isn't outrageous for a set of tyres.

Michelins are very expensive. You still can get a decent tire for about $100 a piece.

Better tires like Pirelli or Continental will cost about $125-$140 each.

The Kumho tires I bought for four hundred-something were quieter than the original Michelin tires that had 38000 miles on them.

Sounds like ~$100 per tire is a good reference point for something solid.

Michelins will last many more miles than the cheaper brand. The Premiere A/S in particular has better rain traction because the grooves widen as the tires wear. It's an appropriate tire for the TSX.

Interesting, how does that help as opposed to, say, constant width as tires wear?

Nice, do you remember when you had to switch out? Warranty is for 60k miles. And does do better compared to the warranty vs other brands?
