Exclamation 2009 TSX "Check Charging Sytem" Warning

So I was out of town for a couple weeks and left my car in the airport lot...when I got back and started the car I got the "Check Charging System" warning, but the car started and ran just fine all the way home. I figured it was because it was sitting for a couple weeks without being started, maybe the battery had gotten a little low. I have driven it a couple times since and had not seen the warning again until today. I drove a short distance around town then came home, parked in the driveway, then started the car to pull into the garage and got the warning again.

Is this a sign of a failing battery or alternator? I've never seen this warning before, even when my last battery went bad.. Thanks!

Sounds like it. Probably should get it checked out before the first really cold weather comes. That's always a good time for batteries to fail.

Factory Manual says check the PGM-FI system for DTCs when that occurs. That's Programmed Fuel Injection in Honda speak. There are 130 pages in that section

Did you get any codes, we can do more from that. That is only 100 pages. Go to Autozone, they'll read it for you (Among others)

One of them is
DTC P0652 Charging System Low Voltage, and its brother.
P1549 is Charging System High voltage

Likely just low battery. Your driving it around should have charged it up and you should have no issues.

You need a new alternator.

Thanks for the replies guys, I am hoping it's just a low battery since the car has not been driven much. I have not seen the error message again. If it does pop up, I'll have the battery and alternator checked out.
