Psh. Dragons are free souls. Maybe you're playing Expert or your character is underleveled? Or maybe I'm just a huge nerd.

I was getting destroyed in the beginning, but now it's much easier. The key is to hit them hard early, then they slow down. I try to get to a spot where they can't reach me and hit them with magic.

Yeah, dragons are not as bad as they are made out to be. Hardest kill I've had so far was the Draugr Wight Lord because they regenerate health easily.

P4 3.0GHz OC'd to 3.2GHz, 1GB RAM, NVidia 6800 GS GPU. About 7 or 8 years old?

Runs Oblivion fine. Have it and still playing it... along with Diablo II.

Looking to build a new gaming PC for Christmas once the deals hit.

If it plays Oblivion you can possibly get away with Skyrim at lower detail levels

Great game, just that the melee system sucks to games I have played. Like Dark Messiah had an excellent melee and casting system, just wish the melee wasn't so damn clunky.

Heard that it takes about 700 hours to beat this game. Just sure if that is truth or not.

Finally got the wife to give me my Christmas gift early. I've played about 3 hours as an Imperial, but don't know if I want to continue. Can someone recommend a good character build? Or for those who have played quite a bit, maybe recommend something you would have changed if you had the chance early on?

Don't know if you want to continue? Are you getting bored already?

I wouldn't change anything, personally. I have a second character that I fully immersed myself into now that I know what the TES series is about thanks to my first standard Dark Elf mage build. I have a herpderp heavy-armor Argonian female named Revan that runs screaming and shouting into battle head-first with two swords. It's a lot more fun and challenging than my first build.

My third character will be a full sneak build, Khajiit. Fourth will probably be a no-kill build on Master. I think if you fully get into your character, you can't NOT have fun.

Plus there's plenty of evil shit to do, if you're into that. See an NPC that annoys the shit out of you? Kill him stealthily, trap his soul into a gem, enchant a ring with that soul, plant it on their wife/husband's nightstand. The satisfaction is awesome. >=]

If you're into Assassination missions, have a "thing". I've heard of people collecting deathbells or nightshade flowers for that reason. They leave flowers lying on the corpses of their victims. Have fun with this shit!

Thanks mystikk -Not bored at all, barely scratched the surface. Just want to see what others play as. In the past, I always end up with a balanced warrior type, and want to do something different for Skyrim. I'm gonna stop over thinking it and just play.

Been playing for the past couple of days and loving it. Just bought my first house. My wife is already annoyed like hell that I'm spending so much time on the game.

Any tips for enhancing your helper? Can you hand them more powerful weapons and force them to use them? Can you get them to learn magic or something?

I just got this game but have only played it for about 30 minutes. I also got AC:R for Christmas and figured I should beat it before getting too far into Skyrim. Other wise I may never go back to AC:R.

If you trade equipment with your helper they'll automatically equip the most powerful item - but they don't take enchantments into account. As for magic, each helper has a specific skill set. Some are good with swords and bows but not magic, and vice versa.

Another thing besides the above post, is that your character doesn't level up with you. They're equal to your level when you first get them, so as you level up, they essentially get weaker and weaker. Eventually enemies can woop their ass. I guess this is to not make your companion too overpowered, or a bug? No clue, but I have Lydia donned in full Dragon armor 20+ levels later from when I first got her, she still gets her ass kicked by a simple bandit.

How do you find out your helper's stats and skills? I can't even see Lydia's health unless we're fighting, and I can't tell her to run away during a fight. Do you guys end up leaving her at home later on so that she doesn't die?

Also, I can't imagine a scenario where an attractive female helper wouldn't eventually offer to satisfy my "other" needs, there should be a button for that...

That'll give you each follower's stats, like max level, etc. To directly answer your question, though, seeing your follower's stats can only be accomplished on PC using console commands.

Here's where PC's superiority really comes in; You can reset your follower's level using other commands. Dismiss them, bring up console, click on them, type "disable", enter, type "enable", enter, close console, ask them to follow. Their stats will re-level.

You can also marry people, if you haven't figured it out yet lol. There's no God-of-War-like banging going on, but it's the next best thing since marriage has its individual perks. Gay and lesbian marriages are a go as well, so Bethesda has no qualms if you decide to live out Brokeback Mountain.
