Hell, the last gen of nissan's performance variant VQ37 was putting out 350hp stock and could be safely pushed to 600hp... And that engine is way beefier than the J series.. also safe up to just shy of 500lbft...
I don't at all believe a stock J series is handling normal driving or extended miles at 700hp

But I don’t want to be that guy that goes to he strip and blows his engine because he.didnt give enough cool down time between WOT. I would like to be the guy that can daily the car if need be, but also go to the track and rep Acura and the ‘Zine.
I live by the three rule principle. I chose reliable and fast, so it hasn’t been cheap.

Right, but you're comparing two completely different applications. Forced induction engines were normally overbuilt. Think of the Skyline engines, Supra engines, etc. All of them could handle a ton of power.
It's not normal to build a naturally aspirated engine to handle almost three times its rated power. Just because someone did it and hasn't had the engine blow up, doesn't mean it won't blow up. Often times guys build up their cars and then sell them within 1000 miles of finishing it.
Think if it this way- honda is an ultra conservative company- they are all about pinching pennies wherever possible. I am very skeptical to believe honda built a NA engine able to withstand 700hp, knowing full well it would never be utilized.

Bone stock bottom end. Dude raced his car on a regular basis. If a F22a1 in a 90 Accord can take that, I'm sure a J series should be able to handle some good power stock.

I'm not saying it won't work. I'm asking how long will it work?
It's not like it hasn't been done... But for every success atory, there is likely 9 failure stories.
I also don't know how relevant it is to compare a block from the 80s to a modern one. Maybe it was common place to over engineer old blocks, due to cheaper raw resources, or not having CAD, or I dunno, etc. I have no idea.

I remember that engine or its variant!
I had one of those in a, IIRC'ly '86 or 87 Dodge Shadow Turbo and then in an '87 Chrysler LeBaron Turbo. They performed well and were fun as h*ll.
Unfortunetly, I had to get rid of the LeBaron when I shipped out to the U.K.; RAF Lakenheath.
The only two automatic transmission cars I've ever owned, hehe.

I was lucky enough to start with a 1985 Daytona 5-Speed and then graduate to a very limited production 1988 Lebaron GTC 5-Speed with a Lotus head and 224 HP. Unfortunately Chrysler would only lease me the car and at the end of the 4-Year lease they took it back and destroyed it.
