damn that sucks...see if you can find a ring that you could shove in there...or u might have to buy a new slave just for the freaking ring...

id try and modify it by drilling a small hole on the lips of the slave where the cap sits, ...small hole on the opposite sides, and slide in a SS pin or smth...thats if there's enough lip above the cap so it doesnt break....another alternative is...if you banged and hammered the SC rim around the cap so its jammed in there...careful dont hit too hard so u dont break it...those are some alternatives...and maybe after, throw some epoxy or jbweld or smth in there...try and get it to work with that sc...otherwise a new one.

yea... I slapped a chunk of eproxy about 6 hour ago. I believe its hard enough for me to bleed the clutch. Hopefully the bond is strong enough to with-stand the pressure.

What is that ring called? C-Ring? Snap Ring? Maybe I can find something similar at Ace Hardware..

The Epoxy didnt work too well.. I used the Extra Strength Epoxy and let it sit for 6 hours. It was hard and solid when I got home. I figured it was ready for me to bleed. In the process of bleeding the clutch, the clutch started to get pressure. I thought to myself... "hey, this might just work", than clink... I hear fluid leaking. Yep, Epoxy didnt withstand the pressure.

So, I took your advice ... I decided to hammer the SOB in! Mashed the edges so the plug wouldn't be able to come out under pressure. Works like a charm.. Thanks for the write up!

For anyone who attempts this MOD... PLEASE BE CAREFUL NOT TO LOSE THE C-RING. As I spent 4 hours searching for the damn thing... with no luck!

Maybe it would be a good idea for the next person to take measurements of the snap-ring while its out so that they can post specs here online in case someone else looses theirs. That way the next person can keep a back up on hand just in case..

Just take the caution of a frustrated member and take the c ring in and out in maybe a small bathroom with the seal closed so if it flies out...there are only so many places it'll end up.

Just an idea. I almost lost mine too btw!

Thanks Opel for this mod! A thank you to rockstar143 too as I had a hell of a time trying to remove the ring using just the picks. I ended up making a cut using a dremel and the ring came out in no time.

I'm going to have the shop do the swap (I did this on a new SC) and install the braided line I bought from Heeltoe.

Thanks again!!!

Not a problem man...yeah...for some reason I consider myself pretty handy and my fatass fingers couldnt get that ring out if my life depended on it. Put the cut, and it was out in no time. Still going strong 6K miles later!

And yessir...in a bubble would be acceptable too!

I'm having this mod installed on Thursday but had a question. As of right now under normal driving, the clutch works fine. If I'm racing and revving to redline, the clutch doesn't come back quickly. The more I race and redline, the stiffer it gets and eventually I won't be able to shift it into any gear. I would have to just pump the clutch a couple of times to get it to work again.

Anyone have any ideas what's wrong? Do I need to hold off on this mod and fix the issue first? Maybe the mod will fix it?

This mod will fix the issue. More than likely your slave cylinder O-ring is leaking. Mine was and that was the symptom. Unfortunately, I didn't know about this mod at the time.

Sorry, I should specify, if you're replacing with a new slave then it will fix the issue. If you are modding your existing one, your o-ring is probably busted on the slave.

Great mod...

So the last nice day of fall was yesterday, so i took the time to pull the blower...
- Finally installed front innovative mount
- Slave cylinder mod
- Braided clutch line
- Changed oil in SC, using this cool synthetic aeroshell turbine oil...

Long day. PITA to get the blower off. I should have got new plugs and installed them, as I have no intention of pulling it again anytime soon.

The clutch slave mod was pretty easy. Once the blower was out, the slave comes out with ease. I had to dremel the notch as shown in this thread so i could get the ring out. Bleeding was a snap. Invest in a small vacuum pump to fill the line and slave, then a few pumps of the clutch, and a few bleed cycles and we were in business.

Cluth line was also a bitch... Not hard, just a PITA to get to with line wrenches.

Front mount was a snap, other then having to jack up the motor a pit to get the mounts lined up.

Blower reinstall really sucked, couldn't get the mounts to line back up...

Lots of busted knuckles and scratched forearms. My boss asked if I had been fighting with cats Monday.

That said, the slave mod was the best mod of the day... The clutch feels like it should now. So great...

Kennedy's seal of approval!

Why not just mod it DURING the tranny swap. Since I would imagine the slave will be off the car prior.

Has anyone had problem with the seals in the clutch master cylinder.
I figure since you running more pressure on does seals now. Has anyone experience any problems.

This mod introduces no additional clutch pressure. The valve only slows the release of the slave when you drop the clutch pedal. Removing it means the clutch slave moves at the speed of the pedal being released. Drop it and pop it and the slave does the same.

The only risk is high power drops can break tranny teeth. Drive sensibly and sportingly and you'll have no issues.

i have an 04 TL 6MT and just yesterday i noticed that only in high rpm WOT shifting, (2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th, 4th to 5th) it just kinda revs's high and the car doesn't accelerate until the rpms go low enough and then it catches. Normal driving, everything is fine, no slipping, grabs really good.

that being said,, do i even have the check valve in my slave cylinder because i'm pretty sure i share the same tranny as the 03 CL 6speed which did not have the check valve....

i don't wanna just take it out to find out that i don't even have this part, but does this seem llike the culprit? am i correct on having the same trans as the CL 6MT?

This is the exact symptom of the check valve being there. I removed mine and it went away completely.

i will give it a try then, hopefully that is the fix, is it hard to access the slave cylinder, just get the car up on some ramps and look by the transmission for it? is ALOT of fluid going to leak out when i take this part off to access the check valve? thanks

You get to it from the top by removing the battery. Not too bad for fluid that a towel can't handle.

Like others have said, pop the ring in a small room. That damn ring takes off.
