Well you need to be a little more specific when you type something like this.

What service? 60k tune up? replacing the EGR? What vibration? Is it caused by a tire balance problem or is it the motor thats shaking at idle possibly due to the egr? What sensor? IAC, O2, CKP??

See a little more description would be helpfull.

So its the EGR that needs to be replaced and not a sensor. If it is in fact the EGR its something you could do with basic tools. The EGR valve itself is like 190.00

You could take it off and try cleaning it to see if that helps (probably not a long term fix though)

Called the dealership had them explain it to me. Yea its just the Egr valve that needs cleaning. the quote is $380 from the dealer. If this can be done at home I would really appreciate it....

start off by getting 3 or so cans of SPRAY carb cleaner and acouple small scrub brushes.
if your engine is any thing like the 2nd gen
baisicly you take the plastic engine cover off 4 10-mm bolts. then disconect the battery. they disconect the rubber hose that goes from the air box to the throttle body. continue to unplg any thing that goes to the intake (any plugins hoses) then there are 10 10mm bolts on the top plate (the part that sticks up thru the plastic engine cover) oull that straight up being carefull to not damage teh gasket. then there are like 8 bolts (12mm i think, i cant remember off the top of my head) then you are able to pull the upper part of the intake manifold off (double check before you pull straight up that every thing is disconected) then get your self a nice place to work and start cleaning. (stick a bag over the TB before you hose every thing down like in my pic to be safe)
it sounds like alot but its really easy should take about a hr to do

i have the same thing happening to my 2002 tl. one day it sputtered really hard and the check engine light flashed a few times. now the car shakes and spudders but the light doesn't come on.
is this the egr valve? does the egr valve cause the gas mileage to go down?

could be many things. Go some place that does free code reading and see what the code reads.

The famous Rip off con artist people at Apple Tree Acura here in Western N. Carolina wanted $590 to clean the egr Port on my 99. I think that included replacing the EGR VALVE which wasn't necessary.
I did the cleaning at home= Cost me $10 bucks for the cleaner and a little over 2 hours of my times. I had my engine code read at Auto Zone. It's an easy fix unless you are not mechanically inclined. The instructions for the procedure are avail. here at Acurazine. There are lots of em.

Just had my egr ports cleaned and egr valve replaced at Acura at Oxmoor together with the evap canister and valve replacement. Cost me $740, and if done seprately they told me it would be about $400 each but doing them both saves me $60. why, i dont know but i know the cel is not lit anymore and car runs great! I got 180k miles on it, a 99tl w/nav.

Luke7: Just curious, what was the CEL for the EGR port cleaning/relacing the EGR valve? Was it the P0420/P0401 codes?

It was the P0401 Code. That was the only one the engine was throwing.

Most of the time simply cleaning the ports is all thats necessary, not replacing the EGR

I only cleaned the EGR Port. I didn't replace the EGR valve. So I saved myself $540 some dollars by taking off the intake manifold myself and not going to the garage. I also spent time cleaning the IAC Valve.

There was no oil on my 99 when I removed and cleaned the intake manifold. As this has been discussed many times (do a search) on the 2000-2003 there will be some oil and it's not a problem. The intake manifold is different on the 99. They changed the design on the 2000 and up. Just clean the PVC valve first before replacing. They do get dirty and clogged. You can do it yourself for $10-12 by buying 3 cans of throttle body cleaner or take it to the Acura Garage and pay $400-$700 for the hour and 1/2 max. job.

^Lol "All it cost was a half-a-can of cleaner." I figured at least a full can if not two.

Good video though. He made it seem easy like a 10 minute job.
