From 3G TL to 2G TLX, another Type S on TE37s

Started my journey here on AcuraZine with the 3G TL, and ended up running Volk G2 Type II long ago. Now, I'm back with running yet another set of Rays wheels — the TE37 Ultra Track Edition II.

April 2021, placed my $1,000 refundable deposit on a Type S with performance tires. Car arrived in September 2021, but with missing accessories all on backorder. Unfortunately the dealer also drilled the front plate in even though I requested not to have it installed; they ended up throwing in the Type S floor mats for free. Luckily BumperPlugs.com had Tiger Eye Pearl plugs in stock from another custom order.

The TLX Type-S looks so killer! Tiger Eye Pearl is the color that I would also want, alongside the OEM ground effects. I'm very happy for you that you have one. If you'd care to write, I'd be very interested in reading regarding your experience with the car thus far; daily usage, performance, enthusiast meetups, etc.

Not much to say that’s different from the savagegeese and Throttle House reviews, both are pretty spot on with my opinion as well. Personally very happy with the car, and just the right amount of road presence! Most people don’t bat an eye, but some enthusiasts have complimented the color at gas stations, parking lots, and red lights here and there. I haven’t been to any meetups, but I think the PNW UASquad meetup happened in Portland last week which had a few TLX Type S’ there which I saw from Heeltoe Automotive’s instagram.

That’s awesome, I wish there were 20s in a more conservative spec like +44 but sadly they all had too low of an offset for my liking. Definitely think around 20x9 +32 is the way to go if you plan on pairing it with either the Tein or Swift springs!

I assume sizing was from last year? I can't find the same specs for your wheels for this year.

I keep telling myself I'm done with lowering cars but a conservative drop like 1" from TEIN springs is tempting. I see it as the same level of the aspec suspension during the 3G TL days, and it's growing on me.

It's available as special order from any authorized reseller like Vivid Racing or System Motorsports.

They'll be going on marketplace soon, I just need to take proper pictures with full faces and tread depth. They're all packed up in storage at the moment.

Threw reasoning out the window and pre-ordered the TEIN S.Tech springs from HeelToe. Guess I'll be lowering the car sometime this fall.

It’s been a while! Not much to update other than I did lower it in the fall and have been loving the fitment since.
