Apple Carplay/Android Auto Wireless Upgrade Possible?

I see the 2021 Honda Accord is getting wireless integration of apple carplay, android auto. Anyone heard anything about a possible software upgrade to the TLX/RDX to enable this? I really wish the car had a way to hookup up USB ports with music.

Have an IPhone XR/128 GB; went to the Apple store because of CarPlay syncing problems
Seems like there's lots of complaints on the Apple website
Apple Genius told me to wait for the next SW upgrade
Examined the phone, & told me it's perfect
BTW: I have to restart the IPhone for Waze, & Amazon Music to sync properly, as well as, Google Maps, & Apple Maps
I have a BRAND NEW 2021 TLX ASPEC
Had the same problems with my 2018 TLX ASPEC, as well

What kind of syncing problems are you having? I have the new 2021 TLX Aspec and had the 2018 Aspec as well. Don't have and have never had any issues with carplay. I had the iPhone 11Pro and now have the 12Pro.

I doubt Acura would update the car to give wireless CarPlay post-purchase. Wireless CarPlay is the reason BMW was going to charge iPhone users a subscription fee until they saw the angry mob and changed their mind. If BMW was going to charge captive customers, I doubt Acura will give it for free as an update.

I've read reviews for the CarPlay equivalent and there is a risk you have to be ok with: even if your current car can't be updated over the air, your next car could lose compatibility with your expensive device purchase. Just like with anything third-party, it may not always play nice with future software.

How does the Accord have wireless Apple Carplay on a refresh and TLX doesn't have it on an all new design? Wireless Apple Carplay is a must have on my next vehicle purchase whick will be within the next 6 months or less.

All good; Apple REPLACED my IPhone XR/128GB, with a BRAND NEW ONE
PERFECT sync with CarPlay, Waze, Amazon Music, etc.
It had to be an IOS software issue, in the old device

Since the MDX will have wireless CarPlay, maybe it will be available as an upgrade for TLX owner.

Honda Accord has wireless CarPlay so they better be working on it for TLX. I wonder if it is possible to add on post purchase ?

I've looked into options to add on the capability and this is the best that I've seen for AA.

I doubt Acura will release an update to enable the wireless Android Auto functionality. Will likely happen in a model year update or the mid-cycle refresh.

Can anyone confirm whether the USB port in the armrest stops supplying power when the car is turned off?

Same question I asked in a different discussion, does using Wireless carplay provide the same quality of sound as wired carplay?

I believe it does since it involves WiFi.

The only issue is you can't use the smart USB port to play nicer FLAC files simultaneously. If you don't care about the best audio from USB combined with CarPlay Waze (or similar app), then you're ok.

Thanks. I wonder if you can convert the charging port to full USB somehow, so that Car Play and USB audio can be accessed alternately as needed.

I don't think so. The older gens had dual screens so it was possible for the 2 USB jacks to be on different systems.

Current gen only has one screen.

My 2018 Accord could run Android Auto through one USB and my music on a USB thumb drive through the second USB port. They hosed the system in TLX period.
