TLX is flooded on lots right now. There are 1000's of listings. I can't equate no information about the TYPE-S on a production backlog or missing chips. No new commercials or anything. Unfortunately the initial youtube reviews slammed the A-Spec on performance which at the end of the day is a dressed up Base model, so I don't see why people review it as a race car lol. The SH-AWD Aspec can be had for $41 - 43k after taxes and fees because dealers are desperate to move units. I got a quote for $458/36/10k/$0 down lease offer. I imagine that will only get better after the official release of the TYPE-S.

Not sure what the "official" name is but that Gold tiger-eye paint is pretty. I think the "Black Optics" black-exterior trim helps with the over-all look. I'm guessing the interior on this one is black also (that would be my choice ... black leather Ventilated).
Those rims are a "little busy" but the blackened-rims also work and match (with all the other body black pieces).
Tint the Windows black and it's ready for the Texas roads.

There are 95 TLX's within 30 miles of me right now. By comparison, there are 26 330is, 38 A4s, and 4 IS350s, although there are 72 C300s. Something tells me we're going to see some nice discounts on the 2G, similar to what we saw on the 1G after just the first model year. I was able to get $8K off on mine back in 2016 on a 2016 model due to lackluster sales; a similar deal on the 2G would make it one heck of a deal.

You can't inject so much money to come out with something that barely matches competition. If they also limit production and jack up prices versus the German's and Korean's current models, people will ignore it and all you're left with is R&D that Honda will for sure use. So Acura becomes a meh brand even after new money is being injected. All that hype to radio silence, for a sports/performance brand that's terrible.
As bad as German's can be, would rather take a tried and tested model versus something brand new. Acura sucks with first year models, just like any other brand. So meh performance on paper, potentially inflated prices and no discounts, unknown reliability, and no customization. You just killed 75% of what people want in this category of cars.

- It's more reliable than the competition
- It's cheaper than the competition
- It's more "fun to drive" than the competition
- It "looks better" than the competition
- It's bigger than the competition
- It has a "better stance" than the competition
- It's fast enough, nobody is taking it to the track or dragstrip anyways
- SH-AWD is better than Quattro, xDrive, 4Matic, etc.
- It has more gears than the competition
- It has analog gauges which are better on a racetrack (in direct contradiction to #7)
- It has a better sound system than the competition
- It has a longer powertrain warranty than the competition
- Something something precision crafted.
- Acura is back!

I mean...it kind of is a "value luxury" / premium brand, regardless of how Acura is trying to reposition itself. The very fact that you can't build-to-order and pick and choose options because it's cheaper and more cost-effective to bundle things into packages is a textbook example of a value offering.

And yet even if the car gets outperformed on paper and on the test track, apologists will still claim it's an amazing car using some combination of the following:It's more reliable than the competition

Burning Brakes
- No Digital Cockpit or HUD
- No Power Folding side mirrors
- No surround view camera system
- No Fog Lights
- No traditional gearshift or touchscreen
According to my old docs, I see it does have Active suspension Damper System, Ventilated seats, and best ELS-3D audio (like Advance) ... so that's something.
Oh, and first appearance of 20-inch wheels (to go along with the new V6-engine and fancy exhaust pipes).

So, is this still accurate (for USA model)?
- No Digital Cockpit or HUD
- No Power Folding side mirrors
- No surround view camera system
- No Fog Lights
- No traditional gearshift or touchscreen

ELS system is the same as in the A-Spec and Advance (3D).

Remember that the first pics of it in the wild (Planet Fitness) was back at the end of Jan. If these deliveries are to the media/press, could we be closer to actual debut?

I wonder how this Tiger Eye Pearl color compares to the old Sundance Gold from the 2001 CL. I always liked that color, so I'm glad to see something similar being offered here.

I have been speaking to my local dealership for the past few weeks, and from what they are telling me is that the arrival is late summer. Acura needs to come out and just release the car so we all can make decisions.
The local dealership, asked if I wanted to put down a deposit to reserve a space, which makes me think its going to be a limited run, and may top 60k. If the type S is more than 60k I am going for a CPO C43 or M340, where I can get all the amenities plus more at a lesser cost.

In the end, you either buy one of these, have to wait for other others, or do a custom build-to-order (even more waiting). Gives you first pick. Some cars who hit dealership ... you may never see or be able to test drive if someone else deposits it.
However, I suggest you make sure you can get your money back if deal goes sideways.

Speculation is that part of the delay is adding in Advance features to the Type-S instead of just the A-spec trim with engine/tranny/suspension upgrades.
Possibly TYPE-S Tech / TYPE-S Advance
The model shown above shows a forward facing camera which would indicate 360 camera which originally is said not to be available. Just a thought

But AFAIK, surround-cams are built-into the side-mirrors (but only the power-folding ones). That's why I always call them "magic mirrors".

Nice eagle eye. If that is in fact what that is. It does appear to be that though, now that I look at photos of the Advance model. The plot thickens.
Perhaps they'll have the standard Type-S for low-mid $50k and the Type-S+ (or whatever the heck they wanna call it) with all the Advance goodies for high $50k. Or, they ditched the idea of having it based off the A-Spec and based it off the Advance, hence the price increase which is why they removed the "low to mid $50k" estimated price on their website.

I don't think it's a cam, more like one of these diamond pieces reflecting light. One of them is exactly where the cam could be.
#155
Maybe they realize they have a lot of parts left over from the slow sale, so why not make a limited run for the fully-equipped pseudo-PMC Type-S while the regular Type-S will arrive a few months later?

I really wish Acura would have done a Nardo Grey on the TLX Type-S. I think the color would look extraordinary on the car. I generally love white, but the few white TLXs I've seen on the road I actually find the most 'meh'. I saw a blue A-Spec today and it actually looked quite handsome going down the road.
