Which one new 25 Base TLX or new 25 Accord Touring
 

Which to buy a new 2025 Base TLX or new 2025 Accord Touring.

The one you like best and best fits your needs.

I would go with the TLX base, from my understanding the tech package is the base for 25 MY. As Frenzal mentioned, you should go with the vehicle that fits most of your needs.

I recently test drove a 25 accord hybrid touring, I currently have a 23' tlx type s and before that a 21' tlx advance. The TLX material and quality is a step up over the accord, the audio systems is much better than the Bose in the accord, although the accord will have much better gas millage. The accord interior was a noticeable step down, and a deal breaker for me is that the accord still doesn't use direct TPMS sensors, I love knowing the PSI of each tire and when I get a low light warning I can monitor the tire if it's just losing air slowly which I can safely drive to a tire repair or if I am losing air at a critical rate and I have to pull over and stop. I still haven't found a good aftermarket direct internal TPMS kit that can pair with carplay/android auto.

Go test drive both back to back and make a list of what you like and didn't like and it should with making a decision.

:ponder: The 25 TLX base vs 25 Accord Touring is a more interesting comparison than prior Accord/TLX comparisons as they are such different cars with little crossover these days, other than being Honda sedans. Disregarding aesthetics, the TLX far more powerful and has a more sporty driving dynamic but the Accord has greater utility, not to mention MUCH greater fuel efficiency. To that end, I agree with Frenzal: get what best aligns with your needs. I think the Accord styling is terrible but that seems to be it's only glaring caveat; most owners seem to love them.

Sidenote:
In the past (and this was sort of the knock on Honda/Acura), a 9.5G Accord V6 Touring was solid competitor to the 1G TLX 3.5 base with both being at the $35k price point with similar level of equipment and performance. To be honest, the Accord had a couple of features that weren't even available on the TLX such as Apple Carplay and the Lanewatch. (I actually had a 16 3.5 base and later a 16 AV6T)

Likewise, the 10.5G Accord 2.0T Touring was at a similar price point to the 21-22 TLX base (FWD), with the former actually having options that arent available on the TLX at this pricepoint. (i.e.: HUD).

Are you serious about the lack of TPMS sensors in the Accord? And I thought Acura cheapened out on the TLX by not providing sensors that would report pressure AND temperature like my 10 y.o. BMW 5-series did.

Go for TLX. Nice step up in driving dynamics and much more rare.

This is a major point in deciding whether to get the Base TLX or the Touring.

Yes, and useful ones too like:

• Remote start
• Head-up display
• Google and Alexa built-in
• Heated steering wheel
• Ventilated seats

Only a few of those you can get as options on the TLX Tech (the Base is gone*) but all of the above + the hybrid powertrain on the Accord, for me the Accord is the choice.

*And the Tech is FWD only now too.

Yeah, I've often stated that I thought the TLX-Tech/SH-AWD should be lowest model offered.

But that Accord is certainly "loaded" ... just will never have any form of AWD (as to not cannibalize Acura sales ... stupid reason I think). Honda could drop Acura and then make Accord and Pilot super-awesome (and I bet people would buy those high-trim models). They could even bring back Honda Prelude 2-door coupe (based on new Acura-Integra)

Not sure what vehicle has what type.

Just wanted to mention that the passive-TPMS (surprisingly) works very well in both of our Audis. No in-tire sensors to worry about either.
