I just noticed on the rear bumper there seems to be two spots where the paint is popping outward on the rear bumper. The vehicle has been in garage and there seems to be no marks on bumper indicating it has been hit. Any guess on the cause? Reinforment Bar?
Probably 99% likely someone bumped it. My 2018 A-Spec got backed into by a mercedez hard enough to pop out the corner top of the bumper away from the body (only had the car 3 weeks at the time). No paint was left on the bumper at all. I was able to pop it back into place but still had a slight crack in the plastic bumper cover. I was sitting in the car at the time and it was a decent jolt.
I never bothered to get it fixed as it was not terribly bad and I didn't want to have any paint resprayed on the car. I suspect you are looking at 500 to 1k to get that fixed. Body shops don't do anything for under $500 anymore and it will probably at the very least involve removing the bumper cover, maybe bent brackets and repair/replacement of the cover and paint. If acura sells the cover color matched (I am pretty sure on my 3rd gen type S they did but never checked on the TLX) then you could probably replace it yourself for a lot less. Not terribly difficult. Sucks though..
Appreciate the replies. Hopefully the dealerships "1st dent on us" will remove this. Just found it weird because nothing looks pushed in besides those petruding points, no scratches or anything. 1st new car and knew this was bound to happen. Thanks everyone.
I was recently rear-ended and my bumper looked exactly like that. The other party's insurance paid for it and the total cost was $1400+. Probably not worth fixing until the next time someone hits you and you have their info.
