2021 TLX vs. 2018 Honda Accord Touring

You clearly said it was too small. Yet you also said people buy sedans for sport only purpose. So this car respects none. Why are you in the TLX section if you're not buying it, brother?

Keep reading these messages...Best is to ignore and not waste your time. Discuss with someone who at least owns one and or planning to buy. Unlike Audi fansboys! they love so much Audi but they want to spend 6 hours a day here and comment on every topic You go check any Audi forum, it's dead!

Oh, and to make it even better, the RDX is garage kept. I can only imagine how worse it would be if it were left out in the elements dealing with more temperature extremes.

Did you decide not to buy it and recoup your deposit?

Oh, and the fact that Honda cheaps out on their clearcoat. Any time you see a car with peeling clearcoat on the road, make note of the car it is. 80% of the time (trust me, bro) it’s a Honda. Keep those things out of the sun. Honda does nobody any favors in this department.

I am having a hard time looking at the TLX myself. Even if I can get the advanced trim for 10 to 15% off msrp, the Lexus ES 350 ultra luxury would be a more expensive car for the same price.

No, they don't. It's just people are comparing a brand new vehicle to one that's a couple years old. My 3G RDX that's just over a year old is already a rattling shitbox. I will never, ever pay close to sticker for an Acura product again. The fact that they're priced so closely to the Germans now is hysterical. If I can't get the Type S for under sticker OTD (~10-12% discount), I won't even consider it. Heck, if it's over $55k it's completely off the list. I really hope Lexus is building that IS500. I'd pay more to not buy Acura again and I'm still apprehensive about the Germans and their overuse of plastics in their engines. Seeing some of the nightmares of the N63 and looking at complicated cooling lines of the engine out makes my dick retract into my body. But the Japanese just can't hold a candle to the Germans in terms of performance ... this TLX is a prime example.

The acceleration figures though seem to be competitive though. Not spectacular, but not sure about it being a "negative" when its 5-60mph time and 1/4 mile trap speed are pretty much on par with the German, while besting the Volvo and G70. I can understand about the tire choice issue though. I also understand about the transmission delay, which I have also experienced in a new Mercedes yesterday. Seems like new cars are purposely made to be like that.

sorry to hear about your experience man. I bougt my 3G RDX Platinum Elite when it first came out and it's been parked outside since day 1 here in Canada. Yup, it's a first model year build and it's an early batch model too. So far it's been extremely solid. I had way more rattling with my previous 1g RDX and 2G TL-S.

That's annoying for sure. May be because my wife crashed the car 5 days after picking up the car when it was brand new...and spent the next couple months in the shop...and so everything including potential rattles were fixed and we didn't even know. lol.

I currently drive a 2018 Accord Touring and got the Acura TLX itch as soon as I saw photos of the 2021 TLX. Now that the specs have been published and dealerships are seeing the final product, I wanted to get opinions from those individuals who may have more insight into the 2nd generation TLX. Maybe I am missing something but it APPEARS I would be taking a step backwards if I were to scratch the itch. Here is my takeaway from the research I have done:
1. Although the TLX produces more HP, it is slower from 0-60 than the Accord. (Not a deal breaker for me)
2. Much less back seat room in the TLX
3. Heads up display only on certain upper trims on the TLX.
Wife drives an RDX so yes, the ride will probably be more comfortable. So I am interested in opinions as to why it would be a step up to drive the 2021 TLX.

I personally think Accord is Accord and Acura is Acura meaning to say is we all know that Acura is the upscale brand of honda accessories and feature you will find in Acura won't be in Accord. So it is personal preference what you like. I am a honda guy but got 2019 TLX Aspec Sh-AWD and I love it the main reason I got TLX is naturally aspirated V6 engine as Accords does not have V6 any more and I am not a big fan of a turbo. Accord has its own class and TLX has its own I love acura because my brother has two a 2005 TL and 2009 TL. 2005 has 280K miles and still run like a champ that was another reason I got Acura for its reliability. But if someone like accord it is fine as Accord is a nice car as well.
