Lowering Springs and Coilovers

Anyone is interested on lowering their TLXs? If so would you refer lowering springs or coilovers? As for the lowering springs, what kind of drop you looking for?

I am currently working closely with RS-R, planning to develop some cool suspensions for the all-new TLXs. They need some feedbacks on what market demands are. So the time is now.

coilovers would be ideal.
with custom spring rates and custom valving.

if you're going to be working with this aftermarket company, might as well go all out. skip the spring

Chan_Mike, first the TLX project looks great so far. The carbon fiber interior pictures posted on the ‘gram look amazing. I am possibly considering buying a 2015 Acura TLX V6 with the Tech package in the spring of 2015. If I did buy one, I think I would prefer just lowering springs. I would be looking for a drop (like RS*R springs offers on the 2014 Lexus IS) that I could put some 20 inch Vossen Rims on it, and not worry about rubbing or cutting out the wheel wells. I would just be going for a simple, yet clean look. Please forgive my ignorance, but on the 2014/15 Lexus IS, if you use coilovers, you lose the Eco/Normal/Sport and/or Sport + Modes, on the TLX, would you lose the IDS function using coilovers? Thank You for asking for our feedback and keep up the great work on your TLX Project and all your other projects, you guys do great work.

Our IDS function does not effect the struts stiffness like the Lexus system. So by install coilover, you are not lose any function on the TLX.

Once development is completed with RS-R, I am sure they will have both Lowering Spings and Coilcovers system available, however I am hoping that they will offer 2 different drops spring type. For example: 1" (Down Sus) and 2" (Super Down Sus) drop, so it will fit people needs.

I am glad to have the opportunity to share this cool project with the Acura's community. I am a true believer of this brand.

There is a link to their coilover system:

I personally use springs. Really no desire to adjust spring height once I get dialed in and always have been happy with the lowering rates of springs.

I'd be looking for some springs with 1.5-2" drop without being too bouncy. Want to reduce the wheel gap without totally spoiling the ride, but not really concerned with performance.

What is your preference on the drop of the lowering spring?

I live in Toronto, Canada, and speaking from experience, if you live in a place with harsh winter climates, the convenience of having ride height adjustability during the winter months is a plus. So if you live in such a place and you want to lower your car for 9 months out of 12, there's one reason to own coilovers instead of springs.

Id agree with this post. Aggressive enough to remove the wheel gap but still keep a smooth ride.

Trying to get my hands on some springs like yesterday! Any chance at getting a prototype set? Already tried RS*R springs from the current gen Accord and they didn't fit ... I might hit up RS*R to see what they can do! Good luck with this, and I'll be watching this thread like a hawk.

The RSR lowering springs for the TLXs are under development right now. I will certainly let you know as soon they become available. What kind of drop are you looking for on the lowering springs?

Agreed. I had the H&R springs on my TSX which were 1.3 and it looked great, especially once they settled. 1.5 would most likely be max for the TLX.

1.5 Drop for me with sport springs. Have they given any idea on when these will be available? I've heard the 2014 Accord V6 springs will work on the TLX without SH-AWD.

Guys, looks like the RS-R coilovers for the TLX will be available very very soon and the lowering springs will follow.

Who would be interested on a set of RS-R lowering springs for your TLX with about 1 inch drop?

Not sure if 1" is quite enough... Really would like to see the results and how much before i pulled the trigger but I am really wanting to lower the car for sure so i'm interested in the details.

I bought my advanced AWD TLX last week and I am in need of coilovers bad. I have Vossens patiently waiting to be put on. Are the coilovers for the AWD coming out at the same time from RS-R?

And yes, these springs are engineered, designed and developed for the TLXs. We will be installing a set in one of our vehicle as soon they become available. I will post up (before and after) photos right after the installation.

I will put together a "group buy" on the lowering springs as date of release gets closer.

Coilovers should be available within about 2 months.

Lowering Springs and Coilovers (Hand Built) are made and manufactured 100% in Japan.
These springs sound like just the drop i'm looking for, so once this group buy is available, count me in. The company appears to make some really high quality suspension components, though i hadn't heard of them prior to this thread. Would installing these affect the IDS at all?

Not at all. IDS has no control on the suspension damping.

We have installed many of their coilcovers and lowering springs on my own personal and friend vehicles. I am speaking from my own experience.
RSR makes really good suspension components. Companies like Megan, Function & Forms and etc, just can't match with RSR products. RSR really get into fine details.

This is another small detail I noticed. They use rubber bushing upper mounts instead of pillow mounts to reduce noise and vibration that most people will experience with coilovers that use pillow mounts. This makes the driving experience more pleasurable.

Here's one of the TLX's we dropped on D2 racing coilvers. Fitted with NITTO INVO's and Vossen VFS2 rims. You can see the cars at the Canadian International Auto Show's.

Enjoy!
