Lowering Springs

Hey All-
A couple of questions I'm hoping can be answered.

I have little time to do a diy on springs to lower my TLX. Is that something a dealership will do? I'm not even sure who would do that type of work. I'm in Minnesota

Would something like this if not done at an Acura dealership, void the warranty? Just curious because mine has 7500 miles on it. Just curious because seems there are always technicalities so I want to make sure.

Was the '05 TL lower than a '15 TLX? I have had both and it sure seems like my TL was lower.

Thank you for the help!
John

I think it will only void the warranty for the part you take off.

There's something called the the Magnuson–Moss act

the Magnuson–Moss act was enacted by Congress in response to the widespread misuse by merchants of express warranties and disclaimers. The legislative history indicates that the purpose of the Act is to make warranties on consumer products more readily understood and enforceable and to provide the Federal Trade Commission with means to better protect consumers.[1]The statute is remedial in nature and is intended to protect consumers from deceptive warranty practices. Consumer products are not required to have warranties, but if one is given, it must comply with the Magnuson–Moss Act.
basically it's saying that the dealership HAS TO PROVE that the aftermarket part you or an independent shop installed caused other parts to fail.
if the aftermarket part caused OEM parts to fail, the dealership has the right to decline your warranty.
HOWEVER, if the aftermarket part did not interfere or fail or cause anything else to fail, the dealership CANNOT void your warranty.

it's also silly to compare two different vehicles.
as there's two different sets of suspension components on them

the 05 TL had double wishbones up front.
the TLX has macpherson struts.

so, sure...maybe the TL is lower...or maybe your specific TL's suspension set up was getting droopey...
who knows unless you put the two cars side by side to show which one is lower...

Thanks for the information. I really appreciate it. Do you guys know if an Acura dealership would do this or would I be better off hitting up a independent shop? Any ideas?

thanks again

here's a set of the ONLY lowering springs for the TLX.
https://acurazine.com/forums/car-par...prings-949663/

and I think the work depends on if you are on good terms or know some one that works in the service bays of the dealership. like, one of these..."Hey, put these on for me and I'll throw you a hundo"

if not applicable; an independent shop will be more your speed and do it without any type of balking
