2018 vs 2015 Sway Bar
Hey guys,
Anyone able to determine if the 2018 A-spec has a stiffer/different rear sway bar?
I found this but doesnt tell me if its a solid bar versus the 2015-2017 (which i believe is hollow).
"TLX SH-AWD models have an increased spring rate as compared to front-wheel drive TLX models. Both the 4-cylinder TLX and V6 SH-AWD models have a 24.7-mm diameter rear stabilizer bar, while the front-wheel drive V6 has a 25.4-mm diameter rear stabilizer bar. The TLX A-Spec SH-AWD has a larger 25.4 mm rear stabilizer bar that further enhances turn-in and reduced body roll during cornering."

both the 2015 and 2018 "press kit" has the same wording.
either Acura is being tight lipped about it, ie; marketing speak....or they are literally the same bar.
in previous "Press kit's" Acura disclosed the construction of the RSB (Rear Sway Bar)...in the case of the TLX, they are mum.

lol why would the dealership know?
reread....Acura left this information out on purpose. for what reasons, we do not know. could be for marketing speak...could be because they are the same bar.
in prior cars, Acura always disclosed the RSB thickness and whether solid or hollow. Acura always hid information about spring rates. They NEVER disclosed this info....they always talked in percentages... "33% stiffer!" this to me, screams marketing.
you could always buy one and cut one in half to find out.
the only people who would know this question; would be the rear sway bar engineer(s) for the TLX.

It is but its also hallow. Progress has a 22mm sway bar that is solid. Any idea if that actually is better than oem?

Both FWD and AWD versions of the TLX A-Spec receive retuned damper valves and retuned steering (according to Acura, on-center steering effort at 62 mph is roughly 16% higher). SH-AWD-equipped variants also receive quicker steering ratio, a slight increase of 0.1 kgf/mm in spring rate at all four corners to 3.0 kgf/mm up front and 3.1 kgf/mm at rear, as well as a stiffer rear anti-roll bar; the A-Spec’s is 25.4 mm wide and has a 3.8 mm thick wall, increases of 0.7 mm and 0.1 mm, respectively.
Looks like they made it 0.1mm thicker.. probably not worth upgrading...

Unless things have changed recently, I don't think Progress' rear bar is solid. I have one on my Accord. Ultra Racing makes a solid front sway bar, which is also on my Accord.
