TLX add on remote start HELP!

My girlfriend purchased Remote start 3 for my TLX. I received the package and it came with the module and 2 fobs. I installed the module myself to bring the cost down because it was a simple plug and play setup. When I took it to the dealership to program that told me the remotes won't work with the module and it won't program because she purchased an "advance package" remotes... I didn't know there was difference in remotes from car to car.. I assumed they are all key fobs that work the same way... So my question is, are they pulling my chain? I'm assuming the tech has no idea how to code a key.... I'm taking it to another dealer tomorrow and see what they say. I was just wondering if this happened to any of you?

I wasn't aware there were different remote start kits for the Advance vice non-Advance. The Advance comes with remote start and one remote start fob and one non-remote start fob.

When I made a switchblade key for my TSX, I took it to a locksmith to program instead of the dealer. He had a computer that plugged into the ODB port and programmed all the fobs to the security system in the car. It took about 10 minutes. If you do this, make sure you bring all the fobs with you or the one you leave behind will get dropped.

We have 2 key fobs for our TLX and have I have always struggled with the remote start. I've been at my living room window countless times, straining to hear the engine in the driveway. I kind of gave up trying. But winter is almost here. Thanks for the reminder, I'll have the dealer check it out, if I learn anything new, I'll pass it on.

newlybird17, are you getting any feedback from the LED lights when you're trying to do a remote start?

Forget about trying to hear the engine, just look at lights on the remote. Press lock and confirm success with a green light. The press remote start, and wait for result. If you got green with lock then you should get green with start.

Most of the time, no. I get a lot of orange lights on the key fob. Thanks though for the reminder, I'll be sure to bring both fobs to the dealer. This has been a "back burner" issue to me, secondary to the transmission and shift issues.

Here is where you buy it: Genuine Acura 2015 2016 TLX Remote Engine Start Kit 38015 TZ3 A10 | eBay

It comes from Curry Acura in NY.. This is where I bought it and did the install myself. If you are remotely handy with tools, this is a very easy install and comes with the step-by-step instructions in the package.

It took me about an hour to do it... A handy tip is you dont even need to remove the backseat bottom, just lift it firmly at the corner and you will see the 10mm bolt underneath on the right side that you need to remove.

Remove that bolt and the rest of the instructions are self-explanatory. Should take you half an hour MAX and saves you all the install costs. You WILL need to schedule an appointment at your dealership to get the key fobs programmed to your car that come with the unit.. My Acura delaership charged me $69.99 to do so.

Good luck!

My friend ordered this for her MDX and the keys that come with the kit just need to be programmed to your car. The keys are all the same. When the dealer said you ordered "advance keys" he probably meant that those are the keys that come with advance packages. My friend had no issues, but the dealer did install her remote start system. They may give you a hard time because you didn't let Acura install the unit.

And I would not do this on your own if you are leasing.

Does installing this yourself void the warranty?

2015 TLX Remote Start on tech package

Does the 2015 TLX Tech package already have the remote tart module installed behind the rear seat? If so, would all I need it a TLX key fob with the Engine start button?
