Rain & rear view camera

Rain & rear view camera
Anyone else have any difficulties in the rain with the rearview camera? Everytime it rains, it seems the lense attracts water and renders the rearview camera virtually useless. I've never had this problem in other cars with rearview cameras, including the 4G TL. It's not just once in a while, like a exceptionally heavy rain. It's consistent. Seems like poor engineering/design.
I guess I could Rain-X the lense.

^^ I have read many people trying to put Rain X on the lens with little improvements. That is one of the problem with backup cameras that are exposed - the ideal solution would be for companies to do like some where the camera pops out from the logo allowing teh lens to remain dry and clean until its ready to be used.

The aerodynamics of the car seem to have all the air circulation wash over the rear vertical surfaces of the car, more so than some other cars. This results in the lens being blasted with any and everything.
I washed my car a couple of days ago and was out that evening in an unexpected light rainfall. The rear vertical surface was quite soiled and the sides and front still "looked" quite clean.
