engine sound

hello its been a year since i got my tlx tech 3.5, i been notice that the engine got noisier i cant really tell what it is, i know that this new kind of injectors are noisy but i have hear some othe cara like hondas and there is a diference of sound, i think it might be the valve clearance, do you think the dealer would fix it with no cost, ( get covered with the engine warranty)?

when you ask " do you think" you're asking for our opinions.
whether or not, our opinions are correct.....it wouldnt matter.
if you really wanted to know if the dealer would take care of you, simply call them and ask.

we are not the dealer and we cannot asses an engine warranty claim....

Are you sure it's not the high pressure fuel pump? I think there is a TSB on it. If it is found to be noisy, the dealer will replace it.

The fix will depend on what your noise is like. I had complained about a chirping noise on mine and it was caused by the fuel pump. There is a TSB for the fuel pump. There is also a TSB for a belt rubbing somewhere too, but that is for early builds.

Here are noise related TSB's

TSB 14-025 - Timing Belt Chirps
Applies To: 2015 TLX - 2WD - From VIN 19UUB2...FA000001 thru 19UUB2...FA025139
2015 TLX - AWD - From VIN 19UUB3...FA000001 thru 19UUB3...FA010310

TSB 15-042 - Fluttering Noise From Behind Dashboard
Applies To: 2015 TLX - L4 2WD - ALL - From VIN 19UUB1...FA000001 thru 19UUB1...FA022558
2015 TLX - V6 2WD - ALL - From VIN 19UUB2...FA000001 thru 19UUB2...FA022490
2015 TLX - V6 AWD - ALL - From VIN 19UUB3...FA000001 thru 19UUB3...FA008262

Interesting that you mentioned this; after my tranny replacement, I can hear the engine, at a dead stop, without music on
Before that, it was basically silent; no biggie, because it's NOT annoying, just noticeable; I'm sure it's fairly normal

Does the sound get louder the higher you rev and is it like a hissing noise? I had this same exact noise right after the tranny replacement and it turned out the technician didn't put a rubber seal probably against the firewall that normally blocks the noise from coming to the cabin. Now, there is no noise.

If it was after a transmission replacement I am going to say the harness grommet isn't seated fully to the firewall causing more engine noise in the cabin.....

Anyone here have the above TSB fix applied? My 2015 TLX AWD (August 2015 build date) developed a "baffling" type noise from behind the dash, with the HVAC system running, a few months ago. Has become more noticeable and frequent now.

I have an August 2015 build as well, but I haven't noticed any odd noises from behind the dashboard. I'll have to keep an ear out now though.

It's intermittent and not persistent, but when it happens, it's noticeable and only when the HVAC is on. Never experienced the "baffling/fluttering" noise when the HVAC is off. Sure seems to be what's described in TSB 15-042.

the sound is coming somewhere frome the engine, you can hear the injectors but also the other tickling sound

Had my wife drive it this weekend. She noticed the sound, too. Sounds like "tapping/knocking". It is behind the dash, but would not say it is from the engine. Something is "fluttering" against something else. Talked to my local parts and service manager. The parts for the fix in TSB 15-042 have been ordered.

My VIN fell outside the range of the above TSB, but my service manager ordered the parts anyway. When I took it in, they found the fix had not been done at the factory for my car, so completed the fix last Friday. Sadly, I had the AC on this morning and the noise is still there. My wonderful (who thinks I am crazy) wife heard it too. Pondering next steps. I plan to have the car until it dies, so I may choose to live with it.
