Blind side monitor question

Hey everyone, I noticed the blind side monitor light does not always activate and I was wondering if anyone knows the criteria as to when the blind side monitor activates and when it doesn't. For mine, I noticed it seems to activate after about 40km/hr.

When it doesn't turn on:

when car is not in motion
when I drive by cars that's parked or slow moving (even if speed is above 40km)

What's everyone experience with this? Thanks!

It's operating normally, see P389 and 390 of the handbook. Yes, it is a little different from other cars.

I am a bit dissapointed in Acura's blind spot after coming from Audi's. I think Audi has it nailed. Audi also varies the intensity of the blind spot lights to give you an indication of how close and how fast approaching car is.
