TLX V6 Aspec or Accord Touring 2.0T ?
 
I am in the market for a family sedan ( want to stay in the Acura/Honda family ) and would like to know some opinions why to choose the TLX or the Accord. The new Accord has really good reviews about how it drives but personallly when I look at the style is so so, it depends which angle you look at the car. Now when I look at the TLX I don’t go and say the style is so so.
Thanks in advance for any opinions.

Drive them. If you care slightly about a car that is fun to drive and appearance (point of the Apsec pkg), the answer will be a no brainer

The new Accord looks great on paper, but the drive leaves a lot to be desired. The torque steer is unforgivable and the exhaust note is wimpy. The interior quality is way behind the TLX and the cabin noise is atrocious. It does have a bigger back seat

For the Accord Touring, you'll be getting all the features that the TLX has. for $10k less(depending on the area). Wife built one. Has all the bells and whistles. AcuraWatch, heated and cooled seats, Navi, V6, and a bunch other features. $45k. Get the Accord Touring, you'll get all that, a nice powered 2.0t motor, and only have to run 87. All for $10k less. As stated before. Test drive both of them. Keep in mind though. The Accord is built for the economy class. It has some great features. But some that you'll only find on the Acura. Same for the Acura. It was built for the entry level luxury class and is considered a "Sports Sedan". So it PROBABLY won't ride as smooth as the Accord to you.

My wife has the 2015 TLX V6 w/Advanced Package and I work at Honda and I've driven the Accord Touring 2.0T. Both have some nice power. The Accord though seems to have a better response than the TLX. Both have a nice ride but the TLX seems a LITTLE stiffer than the Accord. The TLX does look better tho.

I test drove the Accord Touring 2.0T last Friday and yes I liked how it feels and the tech but something about the design, the front grill kills the face of the car and the chrome on the side and rear bumper, personally I really don’t like chrome on modern cars. I am planning on testing the TLX Aspec but there is only one by where I live 50 miles ratio so I will see how hard is to test one out.

Yeah. The chrome thing is...nerve urking. I love the look of the rest of the car. The Sport comes with a black chrome type grille instead of the chrome on the others. I like the rear on the TLX better than the Accord. Price wise, the Accord is a better buy. But you want to make sure you fully enjoy a car. Not just get it because of the price.

I wasn't cross shopping the same trims as you but I went with the TLX because of a few reasons.

1. in two years everyone and their mom will have the new accord
2. there wasn't good lease rates on the accord at the time
3. i didn't want another CVT so I would have had to gotten at least a sport 2.0t and still not had as many features as the base TLX.

Well yesterday I test drove the TLX V6 FWD A-Spec. The car felt heavier than the Accord, on normal mode car feels slow but when in Sport + it’s another story. On freeway driving I noticed the steering wheel shake like many people noticed here. Dealer we’re going to give me $3500 off because they had only one left and I didn’t want the color. I told them fix the shake on freeway driving and that I was going to think about it.

Accord 2.0. It can be had for almost 10k less loaded and with Flashpro can tuned be tuned for over 300 hp and tq with ease on a stock map.

The Accord can have over 300 HP but the style as of today doesn’t go with me, maybe in three years when Honda does the refresh.
Now that I am looking at the TLX A-Spec can’t find any, there is only one in a color I don’t like by where I live so I might have to wait for the 2019 or for a used one with low miles.

FWIW, which is jack considering this thread is over a year old... somehow stumbled upon this and thought I'd drop $0.02 into the old mug. The 2.0T all damn day. It's lighter and quicker, slung leaner and lower over properly proportioned wheel/tire sets and can be had with a 10AT or a 6MT. It's simply a better car for the money. Starting to get vertigo from all the smh'ng in response to this question.

Funny you should ask since i test drove both back to back the same afternoon. Accord is a no brainer on paper. However after the wife and i both drove thr Accord we said "plain vanilla". The problem was we still couldn't wipe the smile off our face from our earlier quiet, powerful, and fun drive in a quality TLX.

This is by far the most inaccurate thing I have ever read on this forum, going back to 2008. I owned a 2015 TLX V6 Sh-AWD Tech and I now own 2019 Accord Sport 2.0T 6MT. The Accord has some wheel spin if you drop the clutch too hard but has ZERO torque pull. NONE. Interior quality of the Accord is 3x better than the current TLX. I actually drove a 2018 TLX V6 Sh-AWD Advance CPO after I already had my Accord and was blown away how cheap it was inside (TLX). Cabin noise? In the Accord?? The 10th Gen??? WOW...This car has so much NVH fillers and so 9 mics in the cabin to counter the noise. The glass is also insulated. You hear NOTHING in the car, even on 19 inch wheels at highway speeds.
The current gen TLX is a total fail, mine was complete garbage. I had new trans by 10K miles, rattling seat, leaking oil pan, etc. Acura is already a full year behind 5 year model life. I wouldn't give the current TLX a second look at this point. A car designed in 2012 and 2013 that's been on sale since 2014. Not to mention it's the size of the old TSX. Puny tiny interior. Acura lost their mind when they discontinued the TL. They made the best cars in the world from early 2000s to late 2010, the 2014 TL being the last good thing to come out. Sales don't lie. Look at the numbers. Honda killed V6 in the Accord because of tanking sales of the TLX but even that couldn't save it. It's just a bad car.

Working at Honda, I constantly get people complimenting the quietness of the Accord. Even with the 19s. People think with the 19s it'll be a harsh and noisy ride but it's not. Nice features. Noise cancelling features to help quiet the ride of extra rode noise. For a LOT less than the TLX, you can get a CPO Touring 2.0 that will come with all the great features the Advanced package comes with and only have to use 87. Maintenance is lower as well since at 100k you don't have to change the timing chain. Better over all feel with the Accord and "fun factor". The TLX is nice. My wife has a 2015 Advanced Package. Love the V6 in it. The acceleration. But no real room in the back seat. For it to be a mid-sized sedan, I would expect to be able to sit in the back without the seat pushing up against my knee. I'm 6'1" and in the Accord, I've had 6'4" customers sit in from of me and I still have 3in of space between my knee and the back seat. I'll be getting an Accord Touring 2.0 for my next car.
