Spotted the TLX on the FWY!

To start off, I live in South Cali and seeing camouflage cars is fairly common for me as we have local Nissan, Acura, Toyota, Kia, etc., etc buildings...

Well today was my lucky day! On my way home, I spotted a TLX as I was zooming pass it for my exit. How do I knew it was a TLX? The grill and headlights! At the moment I recognize what I had, I immediately press the brakes to slow the effff up and got behind it. I took a video with my work iPhone (4S) as my stupid iPhone5 decided to be b!tch and restart.

I will post video which i slow down to be able to see it a bit more, its crappy but nevertheless captures the moment. I skip my exit for the next and well he exited behind me, at that moment I had stop recording. :annoyed:

My impressions, looks way smaller (yes i know its few inches smaller). The headlights was a big :thumbsup::thumbsup: Too bad I just got my 12' TL Sh-Awd.

Will post the link to youtube once the video uploads.

Thanks! Looks like the same car they caught on the motortrend website.

thePearl 01-29-2014 02:42 AM

more likely ... irvine is down south on the 405 traveling north & exiting towards LAX.

Treblig 01-29-2014 05:45 AM

 Hard to make out whether or not it had the prototype's rear "light tubes". Could you tell?

TLX35 01-29-2014 08:44 AM

were the rear turn signals red?

Tonyware 01-29-2014 12:51 PM

So now in south Cali everyone is looking for a white car with duct tape all over it :)

VQPower37 01-29-2014 12:54 PM

probably just a mule, im pretty sure the real one will look closer to the prototype ... or maybe im lying to myself?

Im really hoping you are right.

Earthquake....just kidding. Thanks for the post. Can't wait to see production without tape all over.

OP...thanks for the post! My question is the following: Why didn't do the pit maneuver and force it off the road and take a gazillion pictures and videos for us *LMAO*

JUST KIDDING....before people attack me of being aggressive and promoting violent behavior :)

Hey Pearl,

Do you recall seeing any resemblance to an exhaust system? Earlier roomers and sightings claim that the exhaust tips were pointing downwards. Really hoping to see exhaust tips. That could be a deal breaker for some.

it had light tubes - reminded me of the lexus IS "light tubes" for some reason. I muted the video as at the end I said "well there you go, the new Lexus" LOL. It may not be the same once all that camouflage comes out.

The bottom areas where black out from and I didnt see no exhaust tips from what i remember. But keep in mind, i was multitasking -- so my attention to detail was limited.

One thing i could tell, which is why i knew what car it was, the grill was very smilar to the 12+ TL.

and again sorry for the extremely shaky video, i panicked as I couldnt get my personal phone to work right and had to rush in getting my work phone to record.

yes they where.

IIDXholic 01-29-2014 08:45 PM

I think the exhaust will be similar to the RLX, as the dual exhaust quad tips point downward. I saw an RLX today up close in the service shop and looked under the rear bumper, people were wondering what I was doing. Its visible by bending over slightly

Glashub 01-29-2014 08:48 PM

I'm not saying I've ever touched LSD but if I did I'm sure they'd look just like the video.

I bet that's how they will differentiate between the 2.4 and 3.5 is by the rear lights and probably wheel style. No fanny chrome, mesh, etc in the rear bumper. Likely amber turn signals in the 2.4 and red turn signals in the 3.5.

thePearl 01-30-2014 12:34 AM

i truly wished there was daylight and rush hour to be stuck next to it and capture better video.

121traffic 01-30-2014 03:02 AM

Thanks, OP.

I just can't believe they did incandescent blinkers on the rear....AGAIN. Why not throw some LEDs for the signals???

that's what i was thinking, however, hopefully this is on the mule only and the production ones will be different... and/or they will go LED's with the follow up years.

i think its probably the production model. no way they havent finalized the TLX when it's coming out later this year. Its probably just fleshing out the final details in software and other things.

Mule implies that it's dressed up in another car's sheet metal. This doesnt even look like any current Acura at the moment.

diddy_nyc 01-30-2014 04:49 PM

Thanks for the post, but were you nervous as shit when you captured this video?

It is part of the new TLX stealth technology. It generates a kinetic field around it so you can't take any spy photos.
