Just thought I'd share a quick little project I did over the wknd. I wanted to lose the "chrome" look of the side A-spec badges as I already changed the badges on the back to black (the ones I kept), and I thought why not sort of match the wheels. I did one side and am really happy how it came out. I ordered the other side badge from my dealer to do the same. Oddly, the right and left side badges are different part numbers BTW. Anyway, that's my story. Thanks
Once you debadge, the adhesive is shot and I am unaware of a way to put it back on neatly (other than maybe glue, which I was not about to do). So I debadged, experimented with painting it, liked the look, and then ordered a brand new badge from the dealer. The sliver part snaps off from the bottom red and black part, so I just scuffed the silver part up and sprayed it gray. Then masked off the "spec" letters on the bottom part so as to not unnecessarily paint black over black, and sprayed the red "A" with black. After that it was just a matter of putting it in the right spot. I actually decided to place it about an inch higher, and slightly further back. Sounds OCD I'm sure, but I really like the slightly higher placement.

looks really good, i figured you would of had to get a new one to paint since it looks extremely neat
they sell double sided tape...you can cut it to shape to fit behind the badge to swap it on/off as often as you'd like.
Looks cool...I probably would have just plastidipped to see if I loved it. My S2000 sides are PD and have been for over
4 years.

You are right about the double-sided tape. I ended up messing up one of the new badges I bought, so I thought of your comment and bought some double-sided Gorilla tape and painted the old badge. Turned out great, thanks for the tip. Here's a couple pics of a clean car this time, as I had a chance to give a good wash. I love how this turned out.

You can buy thin strip of 3M double sided tape to put them back on. I pulled my TL letters off and didn't like it so I put them back on with the 3M tape and have zero issues. Even a pressure washer hasn't blown them off!

Thanks. Yeah in my last post on this thread I mentioned using double sided Gorilla tape, after I effed up one of the new ones I bought. It worked great. Lesson learned!
I was glad to see this thread, I have been thinking of doing something similar.
I wanted to black the badges, but there's no off the shelf option. I knew it was possible, though not simple.
I would not have known the A spec badge was two pieces if you had not pointed out. This makes things a bit easier for the scheme I have in mind.
I have a pic that seemed to capture the effect at night
How did you black out the Acura logo on the back? Acura doesn't make one, and I know there are options in terms of painting/coating. Any advice is appreciated.
I finally got around to blacking the badges and got a tint. I ended up using the "smoked" A spec badges for the 2021 model. I am happy with the results, though they are more subtle than I expected.
