It would have been a simple bolt on but there were issues.
1) bolt from the 3rd cat was stuck so it had to get torched off.
2) piping and muffler hangers were way off compared to the TLX AWD and the ASPEC AWD.
Thanks to Sweeney's Custom Mufflers for working out the issues. Verne and Alvin are straight forward, hard working, and know what they're doing. They've been in the business for a while!
HOT! Nice sound and it’s not too quiet and not too loud either.
So instead of going custom I think I’m going to go with Valvetronic and order custom valved mufflers to give me the same feature that the 2021+ TLX-S has with the Active exhausts where you can close and open the valves.

After a few days of driving around, the TLX definitely needs to have it's exhaust opened up. Just with the XLR8 catback, it has better response with no hesitation. The system is quiet enough that it's not obnoxious on the street but makes the ASPEC sound like it's more that just looks. Definitely curious about taking it to a dyno see numbers but maybe after the K Tuner.
So I decided to test out my theory about an issue with the TLX. When I first bought the VCM Muzzler, installed, and drove it around for long distances, I noticed more of the dreaded transmission limp mode where the car would rev but nothing happens.
I removed the vcm muzzler and it seemed to settle things down and drove like this for several months. No issues.
I decided to try again so I re-installed the vcm muzzler and drove again for long distances and same symptoms happened. This time around when I removed it, The care decided to be a Christmas tree and light up every error on the display. It kicked out a P0118 code which was the coolant temp sensor.
Swapped out the sensor and still lit up like a Christmas tree. I then disconnected the battery and checked the vsa fuses and no issues found.
When I reconnected the battery, like F'in magic the issue was gone?!?
Can't point fingers but the vcm muzzler is never going back in.... 😒
After a few years of holding back I finally decided to get a KTuner v1.2. Overall, it does improve the responsiveness of the vehicle. It even disables the VCM. Now to find other tunes to try and flash...
