GatorKnight904's '16 BWP TLX Tech Build
Hello! I am new to ACURAZINE. I finally pulled the trigger on 2016 BWP TLX Tech. I got a great deal on it! It was turned in early off a lease with only 1,600 miles on it. I choose to go with it over a 2015 BWP Tech SH-AWD with 13,000 miles on it which was identical in price. It was a hard decision but I think I made the right one . I am coming from a 2013 TL Tech SH-AWD so I will definitely miss the AWD and handling but couldnt push myself to buy the 2015 TLX since it was the first year made and had some rumored issues. Here are the details on my build:
- GT Package (done)
- Decklid Spoiler (done)
- Fog Lights (done)
- Trunk Tray (done)
- Window Tint (done)
- Remote Start Kit (done)
- All Weather Mats
- Trunk Hooks
- Illuminated Door Sill Trim
- Back-Up Sensors
- Lower on RS-R Springs
- New Wheels & Tires - leaning towards Vossen or Niche
- Paint Brake Calipers Red
- RV6 JPipe & HFPCs
- Wrap Front Grill Black
- Wrap Hood Black
- Paint Rear Acura & TLX Logo Black
- Add More Ambient Cabin Light

^^ Looks great!! While I often bitch and complain about Acura lately, this is EXACTLY how my TLX would look like had it not been from ZF's inability to deliver on an acceptable drivetrain.
Gorgeous color and love the kit - Congrats!

I had an ok experience. On a scale from 1 - 10, I would give them a 7. The sales experience wasn't too bad. I came in with my own financing and gave them the out the door number they needed to meet. Went back and forth a few times with offers higher than that number but I didn't budge. Sales Manger came from the back to see how serious I was before they caved and that was it. However, they do lack follow through. You really have to stay on top of them to get things done they promise you during the sale...like tint and mats etc. Once I signed my sales rep was hard to chase down to get things scheduled. That would be my main complaint. Vinny the service director was really helpful though. The tech that installs their accessories isn't the greatest. I still have to go back to get my GT adjusted. Some gaps on the side spoilers seals.

The '13 TL SH-AWD was an awesome car to drive. Very Sporty. However, it lacked safety features, the ride was very loud & rough, & the tech seemed really old to only be 3 years old. My 2012 BMW was far more advanced in that area.
The '16 TLX FWD immediately you can feel the difference. Good and Bad.
The ride is really smooth and quiet. It looks good. Even better with the GT kit. Tech takes a big jump forward as well as the safety features. The tech is buggy & the navi isn't reliable. I always supplement/check google before I head out. You can immediately feel the power loss from the AWD TL to the FWD TLX. The TLX does feel powerful enough but not as powerful as the AWD TL. The transmission is ok. Nothing to brag about. Gas mileage on the TLX is wonderful. I easily get 35mpg on the highway in econ mode. City driving is not as good as advertised..It doesn't effect me since i take the highway everywhere in Texas. I wont comment on handling since one is SH-AWD drive and the other is FWD. Overall the TLX does feel like a "better" car and I will keep it a while. It isn't good enough for me to not consider other car manufacturers on my next purchase.

Looks clean. I've been debating wrapping the roof on mine as well. I have the grill done already and like it, still on the fence about the roof.

Did you get the fin wrapped or replace the white with a black one?

So excited I had to post a picture tonight lol. After a fresh hand wash I installed my a-spec emblems this evening! Driver & passenger side. Hopefully, I will have some time to take better pics tomorrow.

I am still considering it for my TLX and a buddy of mine wants to give it a shot at wrapping it. I figure if he messes up then at least it was free and easy to remove as well.

I hear you & good luck! I just went to my local wrap shop and paid $250 w/ warranty for the roof, fin, & front grill. Next I plan on tackling the interior wood trim with a carbon fiber wrap. My local Acura shop quoted me 2-4 hours to get the wood trim pieces out. I just have cold feet about tearing the car apart for cosmetic type upgrades.

I wouldn't call Vandergriff bad. That place is full of great people who want to do the right thing. Yes they could have more follow through on promises but at the end of they day their management made sure they did right by me.

Question for ya though...
When they had wrapped the roof, did they remove the shark fin (XM antenna) or wrap around it?

Yeah my buddy went to a local shop to get some car parts wrapped, asked him to get me a quote and the shop said $200 I think for roof wrap. Not sure I want to touch the interior for any cosmetic mods.

Can you post a pic of the fin up close? Is it one piece of wrap material?

Thanks for posting that Gator!
Yeah that is a very clean install. I don't think my friend can make it that clean haha, we'll see. May be worth paying $200 for the shop to do it. It's definitely not a priority on my list, but hopefully will get to it.
