TLX brake upgrade
2015 SH-AWD TLX
Sorry if I知 posting to the wrong place or if I missed that this was already covered somewhere. I知 a newb
But I need new brakes in my TLX and wondering how the aftermarket ones compared to the stock and what anyone recommend? I知 not going to the track but do like the performance feel. Any suggestions on pads and rotor manufacturers?
Thanks

I'm less than 2 months into my TLX ownership, I'm interested to see what people say, if there are some pads that will give greater stopping power than stock, but still last reasonably well.
Here is what one user over on TLXForums said, in answer to a similar question:
Consensus seems to be: upgrade to performance summer tires before bothering to upgrade brakes. In the ran and snow, brakes wouldn't help regardless, as wet/snow traction is the limiting factor, not our brakes.
Here is what the OP asking about brake upgrades eventually ended up doing after reading other memeber's input:
I've seen multiple people highly recommend Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires. Discussed here also:

Steps to great braking. By, Me.
1. Tires. Great tires will make for great braking performance.
2. Pads: EBC Red Stuff are fantastic for enthusiastic driving.
3. Rotors: Don't get anything that's been drilled.
4. Stainless steel brake lines.
Really though, try a set of UHP Summer tires. It'll blow your mind.

I bought some new Yokohama tires to replace the Bridgestones that came with the car. The difference is super obvious. The car now grips significantly better during acceleration, corners faster with no squeal, and stops much faster. Still might upgrade the brakes eventually though.

Thanks Chris. I just got my TLX about a week ago. I had a 12 TL Tech with SHAWD before and loved it. It ran and stopped great with Pilot Super Sports. I plan to install them on my TLX in the summer as well along with some new wheels. The TLX is used and the brakes feels like they have some run out and since I'm going to need to replace at some point, I figured I might as well see what people think about aftermarket pads and rotors.
I saw that same post you copied about the brakes. I wasn't sure about the rotors. I've heard different opinions on drilled vs slotted vs drilled and slotted vs plain. New brakes lines may be out of scope for me. I'd love to hear more from others.

I realize he's starting from just about the worst-case possible, but I still thought this article / YT video was interesting.

I may be posting in the wrong location but I am wondering if the 2018 TLX Advance model's brakes are interchangeable with 2013 TL Advanced. I bought an upgrade package for my 2013 TL but ended up getting rid of it and getting the 2018 TLX. My TLX brakes are finally starting to go bad after 60k milles and I still have the other set in my garage.

Bumping this as I'm also curious as to what people have used and have success with seeing our cars are several years old now and probably have gone through a set or two of brakes. Mine are on their last legs. Not tracking my car either - mostly city and spirited highway driving for me. Any recommendations or just go with stock?
