Hey guys, I took the plunge and ordered the sprintbooster from excelerate. After driving the 2016 MDX with such great throttle response it changed my views on my TLX. Driving the TLX is not that bad I have a new tranny and the shifts are smooooth and I modified my intake and pulley. Driving normal in sports mode the car lags on throttle you have to give it a good push down on the pedal to get it to move, but when it does it moves. On the highway its performs ok but can be better.
Here is my logistics

If im stepping on the gas and the car is not moving, with the added sprint booster it will simulate im stepping on it harder and actually get the tranny to downshift without out the half way pedal travel.
Driving around local the car stays in gear when the accelerator is pressed. Don’t you hate turning onto streets and the car is in 4th and not moving, then you have to give it gas to go? By giving a stronger signal to the computer it will think im stepping on the pedal more and actually downshift.
Im hoping these things are accomplished and the throttle is more responsive.

Let us know how it works out... id be interested if the results are positive.

I checked their website and it said that the part isnt compatible with the tlx. Are you taking a chance?

Yeah please keep us posted. I might install one on the 2G MDX when/if I get one. The only issue I have is that sprint booster is sort of a wasted money gimmick. It only tricks the computer into thinking your foot is stepping harder on the pedal. So you can acheive the same result by simply pressing the gas pedal harder.

If it really did somehow speed up throttle lag, I would be all over it.

i would give anything to have good response from this car. its horrible lol. my 12 TL drove amazing a small tap on the gas pedal and it was gone. hopefully this device does the same and removes that lag of 2 seconds there is. also i see you have an RDX i had an 09 that was my all time fav Acura to own.

We are working now to add the Sprint Booster to the TLX on our webstore! We can't guarantee that it will have any affect on the operation of the transmission, but it will definitely optimize throttle response.

Hey everyone well here is my review. This thing is better than slice bread!!!!! It totally transformed my car into a different beast. Acura has toned down the throttle response on these cars and this thing fixes it. No more LAG! My car feel 100 times better that the 2016 MDX and it actually performs the same shifting methods now. I have it in red mode and cruising now it downshifts with a little touch of the gas and on the highway forget it it feels like my neighbor 335. Remember I have a lightweight crank pulley and the cold air duct and now this car operates the way it suppose to. It throws me back in my seat no more chugging along and step on the gas half way and wait to see what it does it goes and goes beets nicely. I can't believe Acura has not done something for the throttle mappings for our first build tlx's. If anyone is in the queens area Hollis or Jamaica estates and wants to drive my car to feel the difference by all means PM me and we can set something up. It doesn't give you horsepower but it transforms the car into a different machine.

Do you have SH-AWD or FWD? I might look in to getting this as well.

No I totally understand, manufacturers sometimes tune the throttle to be laggy as all hell. I am glad that you like it and your experience has made me confident in buying one when I get an mdx.

I sadly had to sell my 07 RDX tech, but honestly like you said, it was and still is my all time favorite Acura. Even my favorite car out of all cars I owned, and that includes 3 touaregs and 2 x5's (the last being an 08 4.8i). It was like a little pocket rocket.

Can you do a step by step install process? I will most likely get this as well. The crank pulley seems harder to install, so this will do for now.

Id be interested in this for the I4.

i have a fwd, didn't need the awd I hardly drive in the snow and the streets are cleared very fast. Plus it's lighter :-)

hey it works realllllllllly Great the car feels like a different model a more powerful responsive one. My brother came in the car and was like what happened why is this car running so fast now. What did I change I showed him now he is getting one

and yes that rdx was the best Acura I owned, it's a tank in the snow moved better than my MDX. I was going around busses that were stuck and that power was awesome. I want to actually look for a 2012 one to buy and to do some mods on it.

yeah crank pulley is harder but this think took me 5 mins went under the driver wheel with a light unplugged the connect on top the gas pedal and plugged the sprint boost in and the other end the stock cancel. Then I ran the switch under the rug and left it under he drive seat In sport mode

my friend has an I4 I hate driving it bexusse you have to stop on the gas pedal so long for it to downshift. I know this thing will fix that problem I will try it out next week and let you know

I definitely want one now. The throttle on the 2G mdx is rather laggy and slow. Hopefully this wakes it up too.

What generation was your mdx? I remember my rdx was amazing in snow which is why I want a 2G mdx now. I also have plans of buying another one someday, modding it like crazy and just keeping it for occasional weekend drives and stuff.

i had a 2011 mdx it was laggy and slow I think a lightweight pulley and this sprint booster and you will be good, the mdx as laggy just like my 14 Tl shawd but when you gave it gas it moved. My TLX with the sprint booster reminds me of my 12 TL fwd it was quick and responsive but the TLX def has more power.

to me it more about the driving experience now, I just wanna tap on the gas a bit and the car must go I don't want to step on it and wait 2 seconds and it still in the same gear. Acura still needs to come out with a better tranny map and this car would be good.

Just a question here, what pulley are you talking about? The one for timing belt or serpentine belt? That's the thing, the 2G mdx can move, but it takes a bit of too much prod to get it moving. I think this will help tremendously.

I hear honda is working on a new 8 speed non-DCT tranny which I think would be perfect for the tlx. It isn't so much as mapping, but the 9 speed uses 2 dog clutches so it can be packaged small and dog clutches work weird, they have slow laggy shifts.

I love the 2G, we had a 2003 fully loaded tl in the family and I drove it a few times. It was a really really nice high quality car.

I took the plunge and ordered one. I usually don't buy things like this but most of my cars have been manual transmissions so I am light on peddle pushing and I don't like to push further to change gears. I would have to relearn "not" to feather the throttle.

When are you thinking of getting/installing yours? I'm ready to buy one but I want to wait for another person to try it before I take the plunge.

well there is stock like which bypasses the unit, green that increases a bit and red for even more increase. since our cars are just horrrrrrible for throttle the red was good for me. just a little step and its goneee. we cant get past the 5 gear dog clutches but this things helped me so much. you will love it on the highway. the TLX still need a tranny reprogram so stop staying in gear so long but this thing helps by 95%.

i have the 2015 TLX SH-AWD V6. I always drive in sport + mode because I hate the unresponsive of the other modes. But even then I swear it "detunes" it after a while. Last time I went to the dealership and had it serviced they reset the throttle I think because for the first couple days my car was fun and responsive again. I even resorted to popping the hood and unhooking the battery evey once in a while but now that doesn't seem to work. I know what it can feel like so I would rather the computer stop de-tuning it for "better" gas mileage. I thought sport + was supposed to stay sporty. I can't wait till K-tuner makes a re-flash. I asked them and they said they will support it some day. I think they just need testers in Arizona who are willing to buy it. They said the last couple people who inquired weren't willing to actually buy one...lame.

correct these cars are the worst when it comes to adjusting timing. i spoke to Ktuner and wanted to get the module, but then i would need to spend money on a tune as well. this thing with my pulley and stock cold air duct works very well. Acura needs to stop making this adaptive transmission software, its messing up things.

Kuzdu, do you regularly drive on Sport or Sport+?

since day one I've been in sport. Only time I used sport + is to prove to the dealer my tranny shifted like crap. I just came home and decided to do some spirited driving with the TLX mannnn it moves now so much better power I'm actually feeling it in my seat. If anyone is in the ny queens area and want to take my car for a spin let me know

Do u use the paddle shifters all the time? How do u deal with the jerkiness when the car downshifts from 3 to 2 and 2 to 1? Its not as smooth as id like.

i use the auto in sport + 90% of the time, 5% with paddles and 5% in sport or regular drive mode. I don't experience jerkiness when it downshifts from 3-2 or 2-1 in any mode. I think I got one that had a good transmission without the jerky problems. The biggest reason I stay in sport + instead of sport is when I slow down and do a rolling turn/ California stop anything less then sport + when I push on the gas after the apex of the corner I get zero power for about 2 seconds. It scared me a couple times when I had was trying to beat traffic.

My mistake. Its not really jerkiness but moreso feeling the engine break more when it downshifts in the lower gears. My tranny was replaced btw.

What mpg do you get? I understand that at sport +, it caps at gear 7.

yea I do feel engine breaking if I brake fast. I only drive about 10 miles at a time to and from work so I get he he 17-18MPG. Just to go along with this thread I had my car serviced at the dealership "just today" and again when I drove home a noticeable difference in throttle response. Some how they reset the electronic throttle. I swear after a while it is not as sensitive and misalignes somehow. This would never happen with the old school
mechanical wire attached to the throttle plate. When I unhook the battery it doesn't even effect throttle response so I am unsure how they do it at the dealership. I am sure if I asked they would scratch their heads and not have a clue what I was talking about. I can only imagine how much better the sprint booster will make it feel. Maybe it constantly not only shortens the throttle pressure but also constantly resets it so you dont have to push the throttle 1/2 way to 3/4 way to go anywhere. In other words in stock form even in sport + it feels like a pig after a while.

Any update from others who took the plunge?

Update from my end. To my car to Amish country today and back all I got to say is wow this car performs better than ever throttle is amazing on thr highway and open roads you will feel like you have a tiny supercharger under the hood. I gave my friend to drive back half the way and she was like whoa this car drive so damn good and fast. It moves and goes effortlessly. Take the plunge this is what this car needed from the beginning
