New Stereo System For the Tlx
 

Hey all,

I purchased my 2015 Tlx Sh-awd Advanced pakage from Mcgrath Acura in October 15'. The car was a service loaner and I got a good deal on it. I had it shipped to me and got a set of winter tires to get me through the winter months. Once the weather warmed up some I got a set of wheels and tires. I also got the windows tinted.

My goal for installing the new system in the car is to maintain the factory appearance inside the cabin. I also like more bass the factory sub can produce. I also have been trying to make the car as serviceable as possible for future repairs.

The equipment list:
Factory headunit
Audison Bit Ten D
Audison Voce 5.1k amplifier
Audison Bit In
Hertz Mille MPK165.5 PRO 6.5" Componet Speakers
Hertz Energy ES250D.5 10" Subwoofer

Here is the car once I put the wheels on:

I installed some molex connectors at the factory amplifier wiring

I ran all if my speaker wires and 9 conductor wire back to the trunk following all of the factory wring. I zip tied every couple of inches.

I then installed the tweeters in the factory locations and ran new speaker wire up to the a pillars

I then ran new wire through the doors and applied some sound deadener and made new speaker adapters out of some 1/2" HDPE. Then some MLV and some F.A.S.T rings around the speakers

^ Indeed! I appreciate them. I did a total change out on the 3G TL I had, from head unit to all speakers.

I would think it might be tricky to integrate an aftermarket amp with a factory headunit, particularly if it Bose. (Honda/Acura usually sources Alpine or Panasonic to do their headunits.) Swapping out speakers should be relatively easy, and you went the extra step of dynamat-ing the doors... sweet. It's been a while since I've messed with a car audio system, but if I recall if you really like low lows you had to install some "blasting caps".

Boy do I wish that ef8crxman shared with us how he made / sourced molex fittings to plug directly into the vehicles factory molex plugs. Does anyone know?? I'd love to do this at some point.

Sorry it's been so long since I have updated on this thread. Life, work and a Jeep project have gotten in the way. I have since changed out the processor to the Audison bit one as the bit ten d was not working correctly.

I cut the the wires before the factory amp and installed molex connectors so I could run wires to the processor in the back. That way if I want to return the vehicle to stock I can re connect the factory amp. I will upload some pictures soon hopefully.

Yes!! That would be wonderful haha I never expected you'd be back. Do you have the speaker wiring colors handy? I have the 2.4 base no ELS so I don't know where to get that information for my vehicle. And it's that simple huh sounds like you don't lose any features bypassing the amp?

I'm going on a road trip soon and would love to do this before then. Does anyone know which wires are which on that molex plug? Is there a comprehensive service manual on this car? Thanks in advance!

Would love to get some feedback from you on how you dealt with the ANC issue, assuming you installed subwoofers. Also, I am getting white noise/hissing constantly from my aftermarket tweeters. Curious to see if you ran into anything similar

Alright let's get to the bottom of this. Just want to communicate that I'm grateful for the feedback given thus far by OP and others. I've been asking for any help I can get on the specific details of what to tap into and continue to appreciate anyones willingness to share specifics on the wiring.

So here's a couple of the diagrams I found that are free from Acura EWD apparently.

In the following picture what I'm reading is the pre amplifier connector (the connector running directly from the stereo to the stock amp) only has 2 pairs of speaker wires total ... Front Right +- and Front Left+-. That's it. Am I correct to say that these 4 wires are all I need to tap into and feed into a processor such as the AudioControl LC7i? They are (4, 18) & (5, 19).
