Android USB Audio Playback Compatibility Looking For Clear Answer
In 2015-2017 Vehicles do you guys plug your Android phones into USB and the car plays music through USB?
This questions is asked and people say "Ya my Android works" but the question has to do with USB not Bluetooth an dhalf of the "it works" statements end up being because they're using BT. I'm not asking about Bluetooth.
I plugged an s8+ into USB and couldn't get it to play audio through USB. Am I doing something wrong or was this a really stupid move by Acura

music doesn't work via usb with an android phone since the USB port is "MFI" only. (made for iphone) the only way to listen to music on and android phone is via bluetooth or aux port.

I have a 2015 TLX with tech package. I have used an Android phone with the Pandora app installed - connected to the TLX USB port. The TLX successfully operates the Pandora app (steering wheel controls work fine) and I believe the music is transmitted via the USB port. The phone is an older Android phone (an LG LGLS665) running Android "Lollipop" v5.1.1

Android Does not communicate via USB. In the 2018 TLX it automatically pairs your phone when plugged in and Android Auto is launched. In earlier (2015-2017) models, it only communicates via BT, There is no USB communication via Android due to the varied manufacturers communication protocols as well as the ability to lock out USB communication (via the USB prompt on the phone when plugged in).
