The IDS is really getting me. Being able to switch between TSX and *yawn* at the push of a button is so awesome. I just went for a country drive and the car was so quiet and composed, even as I was pushing it. AND those LED headlights ... MAN OH MAN. Absolutely amazing.

Compass - shows direction of travel and name of the street that you are currently driving on. This works even when navigation is not turned on. Wen navigation is turned on, I like the screen on the dashboard showing next turn and name of the street.
Tech SH-AWD - Canadian model

I think the usefulness of the door sensors on the back doors should not be under-estimated. I put my stuff on the back seat every morning and when I leave the car open the back door, get the stuff out and hit the rear door button to lock the car. This is very convenient. Just extreme laziness really but it save walking one step back to the front door.

I love that feature on my MDX, but for some reason, that is not included on US Advance models; not sure why. For now, I always stick my fingers behind the front door handle as I pass it to open all the doors.

I don't understand why Acura makes the Canadian version that much different!

^^ So they can justify charging us more money for our TLX. By making the models different enough, they manage to escape the scrutiny of the government and price matching regulators

I think Canadian and American TLXs are similarly priced if one takes into account exchange rate differences. which one has to.

I agree that prices are currently similar and did not realize that the US Advance models did not have the lock feature on the door handles. The Canadian models can unlock from the rear doors. Is this also different to the US model?

Yup, down here we only have the lock button, and unlock sensors on the front door handles; not the rear.

Touching the rear door handles will not unlock the U.S. TLX.

Only my driver and front passenger doors will unlock by touch.

Rear sensors are part of the Tech package in Canada (which is a ridiculously good value).

Yep. Mostly when I know I'm going to have passengers. I refuse to set all my doors to unlock on the first press just because of safety reasons.

So far, I love the ELS sound system, the quiet cabin, the LKAS is sweet! I like the MID display, puddle lights, the tail lights and, of course, the head lights.

I also like the feature where the car will put itself in park if unfasten my seat belt and open the door. I don't do it by accident, just enjoy seeing it do it

For someone who drives and parks in SF on occasion, the top-down view on the backup camera is a life (and bumper) saver!!!

Secondly, the entire media system and finally having bluetooth in the car. No more screaming into speakerphone to compensate for road noise at 80+ MPH.

This is a small thing, but I like the little "ding" sound when you shift to reverse. And the engine just purrs it's so quiet!

So much to love about my 3.5 SH-AWD Tech. My top 5 are:

1. Looks - this car with SSM and grey leather interior is one fine and classy looking lady, with a hint of vixen.

2. Even without snow tires in frozen Manitoba, this cars feels so planted with SH_AWD, like a fat kid at a buffet table.

3. I love the technology. It gives me a little James T Kirk feeling when I start her up.

4. Soooooo smooth and quiet, like the gold seat section at a Leafs game.

5. Listening to the ELS is like angels singing in your ears.

Oh….and everything seems to work I've come to love the variety in the transmission shifts

Very true. Unfortunately, when the dollar was at or above par, Canadian models were somewhat pricier for all makes of vehicles. There are explanations for minor fluctuations, but the main reason is…because they can! The Canadian Government has recently drafted legislation to monitor and publish "unexplained" differences, however, without any fines or penalties. That should really change things…NOT!!

We do get good value….for a nice change However, the Parking Sensors are part of the Elite package. I have a 3.5 SH-AWD Tech and don't have them. I checked the Acura.ca specs and they show up under the elite specifications. With a good back-up camera, who really needs parking sensors! I am a very good parker, yah…a very good parker.

As a former Whalers fan (plenty of jokes in there), I can appreciate a quiet crowd. Not sure if they knew that they were supposed to cheer....not that there was much to cheer about.
Glad that you love your TLX

Must be a V6 option.

No dings on the I4 but the quietness is there.

Sorry for not being clear in my post. I was referring to rear door sensors for keyless access which appear to not be available at any trim level for the American TLX.

No problem. It is a nice feature in the cold when you are putting groceries in the back seat to keep warm and want to unlock/lock from there.

Groceries in the back seat? That's what the trunk with cargo hooks is for!

It has been touched on before, but the "nanny" features are actually making me a better/safer driver, and I have been driving for a looong time. Less chance of cutting someone off, changing lanes without signalling, not driving too close to the vehicle ahead, and not bumping into someone when negotiating entry/exit from a parking spot.

Agreed, although the front sensors for the collision alerts while driving still flash a bit too often even though I set them to the shortest distance, but that's just life in and around NYC I guess.

Another feature I really like is the remote feedback both for starting the car, and locking it. It's nice not to need direct line of sight to activate, and confirm that the car is started, or locked.

On the V6, if you have the brake hold on, and it's activated, and you're not in park when you turn the car off, the car shifts to park (as usual) AND THEN THE PARKING BRAKE COMES ON.

If your car key is inside the trunk when you close it, the trunk will unlatch automatically and beep to prevent you from locking your key in the trunk. My wife was freaking out, thinking the car was broken lol

just noticed one thing today - when BT streaming (Nexus 5) not only does the track info show but there's a ribbon display showing graphically how far through the song you are. small thing but pretty neat. Shame the song title font isnt a bit smaller so longer titles fit. rolling displays can be annoying.

TLX doors shut with a very nice consistent thunk - way better than TSX (if I havent mentioned that before)

It's been mentioned in other topics, but I love the way you can activate, or not activate the Brake Hold and Idle Stop functions by how you apply pressure on the brake pedal. If Brake Hold is on and Idle Stop not turned off,:
1. Most pressure will activate Idle Stop and Brake hold(if there it's not overly humid or bitterly cold, or anything that draws additional electric charge to run heating system or wipers more than "normal");
2. Medium pressure will activate Idle Stop only
3. Feathering the brake at lower speeds, usually in traffic, will prevent activation of either.

I felt the need to resurrect this thread cuz I found a new feature that I love.. sure, I could ROTM but I like to discover things and be in awe, like it's something no one else know

If you push in/down on the steering wheel volume wheel, it mutes the audio... Hey, it's new to me!

Did you know that if you press and hold the volume wheel to the left or right that it will fast forward/rewind a CD or HDD track?

Thank you! Ive been trying to figure that out but didn't come across a easy way to do it. It comes in handy if there's a particular part of a song, such as a guitar solo, that you just need to hear again.

Didn't know about mute from the steering wheel. Good One!

A recent one I noticed when it was raining was how the dash has an auto dim function when I got stuck under an overpass in traffic. Not needed, but a nice touch.

Here's a simple one. I appreciate that the glovebox button is on the side and within easy reach of the driver if you want to open and grab a napkin or whatever. It's also a nice soft push and a smooth open.

Here's one - how the glove box lid is padded...and I very belated noticed the the MID in front if you can show recent calls and speed dials. That is very neat. I have always just been using the voice recognition which hooks up to the phones address book (something no Honda will do).

Unlock feature

I had this also on my 08 TL but just in case you didn't know. When you are within transmiting distance from the car push the unlock button twice quickly on the key fob and on the second push hold it and all the windows will roll down and moon roof open until you let go of the button. Only want half way let go early. If you need to go further do it again and hold until all the way open. Nice on hot days that you want to quickly evacuate the hot air "before" you get to the car.

I followed a black SH-AWD on the way to work today. First time I have actually been right behind one. It was foggy so we both had headlights on. The rear LED lights and the lower bumper reflectors helped make the car look very smart indeed from the back. Helped that his was so shiny - as is mine...till the snow started five minutes ago :-(

I had overtaken him and he didnt seem to like that and tore past me later. Felt I was in a bit of an Acura photo shoot.
