TLX compared to 2014 is350?

I have also looked at the IS 350. Nice car and I actually don't mind the styling. Both the exterior and interior may take some getting used to. The seats for me are a little tight (waist line has been expanding lately), so unless you are trim or you prefer a snug fit that may be an issue. Power is nice, .... I liked the handling and the instant throttle response but you pay for it with not great mileage compared to the TLX. Something to consider if you put on tons of miles. Have to love the Lexus reliability. Like everyone has said....you have to drive each and figure out what model(s) work for you and your preferences and needs.

^^ Good points. I like the exterior and interior styling but again, it is purely a subjective thing and to me, it works. I remember how much flack I took for the 4G TL and it never bothered me one bit...To me, it looked great and that is all that mattered at the time (and I still miss that car).
I agree that the cabin is quite snug and if you are tall and on the heavy side, it could feel a bit uncomfortable. For me, given my height and very light weight, it feels amazing. I agree with you that the fuel consumption on the 3.5L will be noticeably worse than a TLX, not sure why Toyota can't make more fuel efficient gasoline engine when it is the king of hybrids.
The performance and the handling is quite good but it can't touch Acura's SH-AWD....That system is just simply amazing and Acura deserves this award. The same as the ELS system, I think Acura wins in that department too (at least in my 2012 TL).
The backup camera on the Lexus is superior than that of the TLX and in my opinion, the Lexus seats are more comfortable than those of the TLX (for MY bodytype). I will say that the Sport+ in the IS with its resonator that pipes more engine sound into the cabin is pretty intoxicating....I know it's all in my head but still, its sexy sounding
I know many reviewers find the mouse control on the IS interface is hard to get used to but I disagree. The same way that some people feel that getting used to driving a car without a gear shifter is hard to get used to....this is all subjective. I think the interface and especially the audio/mp3 interface is far superior than my TL.
So again....no car is perfect....The TLX has some strength, the IS has some. You have to make your decision based on what is important to you and which car offer the specific features that is important to you.

there's no comparison. IS350 especially with the F Sport package is a totally different class over TLX (even the SH-AWD variant). the only things TLX has over IS350 are a little more interior room, a slightly better gas mileage (V6 models), and that's about it. for $45k plus or minus a few grand, i'd get a '15 IS350 F Sport in a heart beat. i'm actually waiting on the much rumored '16 IS200T.

At most, it competes decently with a BMW 328i

What playground does it play in? I have a TLX V6 Advance SH-AWD and a Cadillac CTS and I think they both play in the same sand and my new TLX probably even kicks some in the CTS's face from time to time.

Well, I've had a Twin Turbo Dodge Stealth RT with all wheel drive, all wheel steer and a Pontiac Trans Am WS6 and I know I'm older now, but I think my TLX can hold it's own with either of them in the twisties. In fact, I'd like to see how the numbers would compare if I had the chance to drive them at the same time. I loved the CTS, but it can't hold a candle to the TLX and I think that the styling is reserved, but very tasteful and honestly, I feel that the TLX has very sexy lines.
To each their own, and that's why there are so many vehicles to choose from, but to say the TLX can't compare is ridiculous at best!

Thanks! Although I'm not ready to track anyone down and start getting the cans of whoopass out just yet, it's a little annoying to casually cast aside the TLX. We are all entitled to our opinions, and for that I should have just moved on, but I've read for months on reviewers sites how bad, or ugly, or slow, or whatever the TLX was, and mostly from people who have never seen in person or test driven them that today was the day I struck back
I'm better now, I promise!

Too bad he didn't give the car a second chance. To many, you only get one chance to make a first impression.

When I was still considering purchasing my TLX i'd look at every possible review or piece of information to get as many opinions as I could and I swear the same person would post the same comments about how terrible the TLX was in every comment section. For some the satisfaction is in owning and driving the car, and for others, it's about trolling around spreading negativity to which they have no real facts. For me, I love my TLX and I'll have another 500 mile round trip at the end of the week to reaffirm how glad I am I made the purchase.

I would love to see a comparison on the track. IS350 F Sport, Q50S, TLX SH-AWD. I bet you that there will not be much time difference between them, however, some people love to trash the TLX like it doesn't even belong in the class.

I'm surprised at the statements of the is350 not being a good comparison to is350...
How is that? So I'm looking to spend about 40k max.. I can find a 2014 is350 fsport with less than 20k miles for that.
The tlx is comparable, it's a luxury 4 door sport sedan right?
After driving the tlx and being pretty Impressed with the performance I wonder if I would be really amazed after driving the is350

Listen guys, there is no need to get all upset about one says or what one thinks....And I think we should always be mindful of how we chose our words to make sure we don't come across as confrontational.
At the end of the day, the TL, the Q50, the IS, the A4/S4, the C300/400, the BMW 328/335 are ALL amazing cars and we should be consider ourselves fortunate that we can afford and drive one of these. I am not saying we are the richest of the bunch, but there are people who could only dream of having their buttocks on one of these seats.
Now I am not here to give lectures or preach but just to remind everyone that at the end of the day, we are here to have good conversations, talk about our cars, what e like and dislike. No doubt this is an Acura biased forum, and there is nothing wrong with that. I do love the brand and I think the TLX is a great vehicle. It didn't work for me this time around but it was a close second and I know that in a few years, I'll be back.
We still have our ILX and its fun little tossable car and despite all the bashing it gets about being slow as heck, I don't share that opinion. I had a 4G TL when everyone hated the looks and I didn't care.
Sometime, we will post things that will get people going but I don't think that "Saturno" was trying to be rude intentionally to people here. Let's all be reminded that we have an opinion and even if sometime it hurts to see someone discredit our vehicle, at the end of the day, if you like the purchase you made, that is all that matters.
No car is perfect...the IS350 F sport isn't, the Q50 Sport isn't, neither is the TLX nor the Audi, Mercedes or BMW. ME on the other hand, I am pretty darn close *lol*
...now let the friendly conversations continue

As a matter of fact, I did if you were paying attention to my posts...
This is what happened, which you can read on this thread:
https://acurazine.com/forums/fourth-...ait-6g-926869/
Let me paste from that post
There is, at least in my experience, a good amount of circumstantial evidence that many 4G owners (especially SH-AWD) are shunning the TLX...the biggest confirm I had was talking with a very senior Acura salesman (17 years on the job, Acura Council of Sales Excellence Gold), an extremely nice guy and very knowledgeable, I would have absolutely loved to buy a car from him.
We chatted for almost one hour when I decided to test drive for fun a TLX SH-AWD few weeks ago (I test drove a FWD V6 when the TLX came out last year) ...he openly admitted, did not sugarcoat it at all..the TLX is a very tough sale to 4G owners but not to TSX owners...himself owned a 4G and switched to a RLX.
He even sent a thank you card at home and a Starbucks gift card....excellent premium car salesmanship at its finest.
But what does he knows...he has been selling Acuras since little less than 20 years...
The difference between me and you is that I do not have any emotional attachment to a brand...when they screw up (in my opinion, obviously) I tell it exactly the way I see it without sugarcoating.
You think that because I drive a Q50 at the moment, I defends anything Infiniti does...absolutely not, the canning of the Q50 Eau Rouge, for example, is an unmitigated disaster and Infiniti will pay for it dearly in the future...they seems to have taken a page from the Acura plabook, the chronic lack of balls.
Shhh...I heard people are cross-shopping the TLX with the M5....

You enjoy driving it, more power to you, it works for you, this is what it counts...if i were you I would not even dream to dump a GS350 for a TLX but to each his own....

^^ Exactly...Now can we please move on to other topics where we don't try and convince each other why one car is better than the other? I am not trying to sound like Mother Theresa here but there is enough conflict in the world and I come here to have some fun and relax a little.
Thanks in advance....
PS...Can someone give me a thank to push me over the 1000 mark *lmao*

I am not surprised to see you say you wouldn't dream of that since you've made your opinion about the TLX very clear, ad nauseum.
And done...

Yes, compared to the car I grew up with these are indeed incredible cars.....in my high school days an unreachable Ferrari Testarossa had 390 horses, the Porsche 928 S 320 and everybody was salivating after Thomas Magnum's Ferrari 308 GTS.....220 or 240 horses (depending on the model year) but this was 30 years ago, you need to put things in perspective.
The cars we are talking about are definitely still sweet rides but nowhere near "dream car" status in an era of 155 mph Chevy Malibus....32k nowadays land your butt in a 435 HP Mustang or a V8 Charger (if you want 4 doors)....45K is the entry ticket for a Chevrolet SS which is as close as you can get to a modernized version of a E39 M5 and as good when it comes to handling.
