Are there insurance discounts for cars equipped with Advance safety features?

I would like to think that insurance rate discounts are available to those with cars equipped with Advance features such as adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking, and lane departure warning/assist. I tried but failed to get an insurance discount on my 2006 RL which had adaptive cruise control and collision mitigation braking, but at that time, the features were just too new for the companies to understand. But now it's now 2014 and many car companies are offering these safety features which I feel must be worth some kind of discount from insurers. Your thoughts?

You would almost think that with how everthing is electronically connected now, the insurance companies know what safety devices (active or passive) each model car comes with and would already be in the pricing quoted.
Now maybe there is some sort of exception for the launch of a brand new model like the TLX until the databases are updated......

Just thinking out loud.

I would think they would go up because the person driving uses all the nannies as an excuse to just be that much more inattentive while driving

That said, im sure its just built into the quoted price of the insurer

I would not assume insurance companies are that smart.. They will try and nickle and penny your rate until you live in a cardboard box.

Insurance companies usually adjust rates depending on numerous factors, cost of repair, safety features, etc. I would like CMBS and BLIS would help keep the rates low. I can tell you when I went from my M37S to my A6 the insurance went up substantially, even compared to a comparably equipped new M37S. My guess is the increase cost to repair.

News clip said that within 2-3 years this technology will be required, like stability control is now.

Haha - if you are thinking otherwise, I'd say you are wrong. Insurance companies are very smart as the manage and balance risk as part of their core competancy. If they didn't they would be out of business and we all know the insurance industry is alive and doing very well.

I called Progressive for an estimate to replace my 2007 TL Type-S and the 6 month plan went up $100. Nothing on my record. Not sure if it has something to do with MD; I called Progressive and they stated that there was an overall rate increase in MD.

They quoted the exact same increase for all trim packages I4/V6 and SH-AWD which doesn't sound right. I guess I will see in about a month.
