Sold the TLX for......
So guys, the time came for an SUV so I got rid of the TLX and picked up a 2017 Acura MDX Navi. I have to say, that the MDX feels far better in terms of Powertrain than my TLX did. It's funny how the same engine and transmission actually works seamlessly with the MDX, but it could never work like that in my TLX. I guess I was one of the unfortunate ones who had an early 2015 model (built in 2014), and my Transmission was never smooth and responsive even with all the updates. I was hesitant on going with the MDX, and wanted to go to a different brand, but the 2017 MDX felt like a totally different experience. It really did inject some much needed confidence back into Acura for me. Engine is buttery smooth, shifts are buttery smooth, and there is no lag when accelerating. Fit and finish is superb, and value was unbeatable. For what you get content wise with the MDX, it can't be beat.
Just thought I'd let you guys know my experience. In my opinion, I think the 2017 transmissions should perform well with the TLX. If it feels like this in the MDX, I don't see why they can't work the same in the TLX.

Congrats on the new SUV, hoping to many years of great driving!
Curious though, did you get any discounts/specials from Acura for the TLX? Would have been a great time to give them feedback and get something from them.

Congrats on the new SUV!
You're now part of the popular kids who moved from a sedan to an SUV - more proof that this is the direction the population is moving.
Truth be told I plan on keeping my TLX for a number of years but am already thinking of maybe an RDX (depending on what they do with the next gen redesign ) when it is time to trade in. The MDX would be a bit much for us but I really enjoy driving my wife's new CRV so the RDX (depending on the re-design) may be an option.
Anyways - I think the MDX is sharp looking - post a picture when you get a chance!

I think I scored a pretty good deal. The Dealer knows me very well, and they even told me that they owe me a good car as I've had an oil buring TL and then the TLX issues. So I ended up getting $3200 discount off of the MSRP, plus I saved 1% on interest for being an Acura customer which in dollars works out to be approx. another $2600. So total savings of around $5800 including the money I saved on Interest. It also helped that I signed the deal on Dec 28. Month End, Year End. Best way to do a deal! :-)

Now if they could just figure out how to make all that true when talking about their sedans...
Congrats and enjoy the MDX! I always thought it was a great car whenever I was given one as a loaner during service visits for my prior RLX.

Congrats on the MDX -- did you get the SHAWD? We were shopping for one and wound up with a Pilot. Very impressed by both cars but the Pilot is a little bigger on the inside and better for the kiddos. The MDX is definitely the one Acura doesn't take chances on -- bread and butter for sure.

I sold it privately. It was on lease, so I had someone assume the lease and offered a pretty good incentive to cover my overage on mileage. Dealer trade in offer was only around $27,000. Too low for me. By doing it with LeasBusters it narrowed that negative equity gap by about half the amount I would have if I traded it.

In Canada, and with Canada pricing.......I think that's a great deal. We don't get as many incentives and discounts as they give in the U.S. So $3200 off of MSRP is pretty good in the Canadian market.

As a comparison, my 15 TLX bought in September 2016, a month before 16 TLXs arrived only got me a max discount of 5K since I was a previous customer. I saw discounts of 7k and over for the USA. I wish we would get that too!

Acura 2010 - Congrats on the new MDX. I had a chance to drive when when my dealership provided one to me as a Hole-in One insured prize for a charity golf tournament I am involved with every summer. The 9 speed tranny was excellent, as was the fit and finish.
By our Canadian standards, a very good deal

Often times if you trade in (to a dealer) with a car less than 3 years old, eg 2015 TLX, you'll get soaked. (Hondas/Acuras hold their value best after 4-5 years.)
My Acura dealership contacted me recently and said they are have a "buy back program" for 2015 TLXs. I thought it sounded too good to be true, so I called them back and inquired further. They said they'd be happy to take my 2015 in trade for a new model. I asked them what the "buy back program" is... I mean is there any incentives? And the lady replied, "No, we'll take your car in trade." So I was dumbfounded and thought, what kind of "program" is this then? They're making it sound fancy when they just want you to trade up like any other person off the street. Very shady.

This kind of sales tactic has been in wide use for years across many makes and models. I get them all the time, and they are just designed to get you to walk into a salesroom to sell you a car. There is never actually "a high demand for the particular used car model that you happen to own."
