So the TLX doesn't have DRL's?
#4
The TLX and MDX have the same system...
There are a total of 20 LED's... Three outer low beam LED's on each side for the headlights, two inner high beam LED's on each side... and then 5 additional recessed LED's on each side at the very top of the bigger LED's that act as the DRL's.
The top left picture of course is with all lights off. The bottom left picture is with the three outer low beam headlights on. The top right are the DRL lights with headlights off. The bottom right are the three low beam and the two inner high beams.

I'm confused then. I have a 2015 TLX to test drive for a couple of days and of course the headlight switch defaults to Auto (the spring-loaded switch won't let you keep it in the Off position, they're always on Auto).
But in the daylight earlier today the headlights were NOT on ... that is, there was NO DRL functionality happening.
Is there maybe a setting that changes that? The manual isn't in the car.

No... There's no setting. Are you saying that with the car on you went out and looked at the headlights and didn't see the drls? You have to stand back a little because again they are recessed and at the very top so you can't really see them if you're close up in front of the car standing up... You have to back up or kneel down on the ground and look up.
But no, I didn't kneel down or anything - just walked around to the front and didn't see anything. With my RLX, you're blinded day or night, , so I just expected to see some light and didn't.
I'll check again in the morning, but I'm glad to hear they're there.
Thanks.

That's a default setting because of the auto headlights... however I'm almost positive that you can change that setting... at least I could on my TL. I'll let you know if I can find it

I can always tell if my DRLs are on when I come to a stop and see the reflection in the vehicle ahead of me.

I recall that when the car is first started, the DRLs are not on. Once you put it on Drive or Reverse and move a bit, they should come on. That's the only time I remember when the DRLs are off when my car was on with my headlights off. I could be wrong since I know for sure it happened on my previous Accord. Not really something I check all the time. If your DRLs are off when driving, then I guess something could be malfunctioning.

You can also turn off the DRLs and Headlights while in Park.
At night if you turn off the headlights while in park, turn off the car, stay away for a while come back and open the door, the lights do not come on till you start the car. Found that gem one evening.
