SH-AWD/V6 mpg: WOW!
#42
Unless I am doing an all highway, long trip I never see 30+ mpg in my '09 TSX and I am about 70%/30% city/highway and I am lucky to see 23mpg, so these are impressive numbers for sure!

I saw this thread before I purchased my TLX Sh-awd but now that I own one I have to agree WOW. MPG is great!
It says 21 city 31 hwy but on a 45 mile each way trip to LAX I was averaging peak at 36mpg before I hit LA traffic and by the time I got back home it lowered to 29 but still I am damn impressed. This was done using LKAS and ACC so it was the computer doing most of the driving. Also in "normal" not even in "econ'
Overall overall I average low 20s, mainly cuz I like to drive to inefficienty with hard accelerating. B

I LOVE seeing threads and results like these! A number of years ago, I bought a Hyundai Veloster that missed it's highway mpg estimates by 5-7mpg even with the lightest of feet so it's great to see everyone generally matching if not exceeding the highway numbers.
I have a 2.4 Tech with roughly 2300 miles on it and I average in the mid 30s (34-36 or so) at 75-80mph with gentle elevation changes. I am fortunate to have an Exxon station near my home that sells 100% pure gas/no ethanol 93 octane so my car gets the best gas possible. I have a trip from Chapel Hill, NC to Birmingham, AL the weekend after this one so I'm curious to see how I do on a 100% interstate driving through a full take of gas.

Will let you 40MPG guys gloat a little, just did 300 miles of a 600 mile trip. 31.2 MPG @71MPH average speed. Gotta pay to play @ 4.4 0-60 times. Will post a trip computer pic tomorrow if I get a chance.

Really disappointed. Had a great run coming home Sunday morning. Hooked up with a 6 car fast pack & knocked out a steady 90MPH for over an hour. Very seldom under 80MPH for the rest of the trip.
Got caught in a tail back from an accident about 13 miles outside of Raleigh, spent the next hour going the 8 miles working my way through the great metropolises of Zebulon, Lizard Lick & Eagle Rock trying to work my way over to 540 to finish the trip.
Killed my average speed & dropped MPG to 26.

In my 2.4L TLX, I routinely get mid-40s driving at 65 mph on freeways in SoCal. It would take substantial traffic, speed around 80 mph, or going up a significant slope for the MPG to drop into high 30's.
Today I actually set a pretty impressive MPG record during my morning commute. The conditions were:
Speed: 55 mph (cruise control)
AC: off (fan only)
Outside temp.: 82 F
Tire pressure: 34-35 psi
End/start elevation: same (100 ft above sea level)
Distance: 7 miles
Result: 55.8 mpg
Take that, 3.5L owners!

But seriously though, if you ever take a road trip (something 100-200 miles), do that and see what you average on the highway doing that speed. I'm honestly curious what you'd get in the 4 cyl.

I agree - 55 mph on cruise control is not something you can do on everyday basis. But my interest was to test the limits of the hardware capabilities. I would be interested if somebody can replicate my results following the same recipe.

33.5 MPG on a 300 mile trip from LA to Vegas on my sh-awd advance v6. I used ACC and LKAS the entire way and it was a blast. My girl friend was excited to take me to vegas for my first time but she doesnt know I secretly just wanted to go for the drive! hehe! I love driving my TLX

I can say that it does wonder when you do a significant amount of highway. Specially when you do 65-75mph.
But in the last week I still can observe 14L/100km (17mpg) on my TLX V6 and 8.2L/100km for our Civic. A much bigger gap than the EPA figures suggest. My biggest disappointment.

As a fellow Albertan, I've done the same thing. Tracked the amount of fuel I used and it was 17 L one way for the SH-AWD version. With that kind of fuel economy, I could make the same trip 3 times before filling up!

Update: new road trip
Over the weekend, drove 225 miles; upstate & back
MPG: 35.1, with a FULL trunk, & Spare tire!
70-75MPH
Whisper quiet interior; great ITunes, smooth, & comfortable
BTW: the 9 speed acted great; plenty of passing power, minimal lag
Stop complaining guys, & enjoy your toy!
Not perfect; but what is?
For $470/month/lease/36 months/tax included,/NMD/ it's by far, the best buy for your buck.
