Probably going to get an Audi A4 instead of TLX

Please tell me you're joking. Audi A4 sales numbers are a joke. Way behind C class and the 3 series for the last couple of years. This thing is a sales flop. Just because you bought one does not make it a success. Sales numbers have only been around 2k+ per month, where C class consistently sells at 6k+ per month.

Interesting from a 'spec racers' point of view based on the raw data. One thing that clouds the benefit which is very small is how much the increase in rear balance due to weigh shifting back with the heavier rear differential & the lowering of the center of gravity contributed to the 1/2 second improvement in lap times.

Test Drove the 2018 Quattro and Ultra - comparison to my 2.4 TLX
My observations:
My observations:
- Power on tap available on both for acceleration & easy passing . High torque available across the rev range.
- Suspension is stable, firmer than TLX, not punishing at all. TLX kinda "floats" a bit when it rides over the concrete expansion joints. Audis don't. Body roll minimal(lesser than the Infiniti Q50 that I test drove yesterday & lesser than the TLX)
- Ultra/FWD is good on the sharp turns.
- Quattro is great on sharp turns. It almost feels like you're pivoting on ONE of the back wheels. FWD didn't provide similar feeling.
- Much Much quieter on both, you hit 80 and don't even realize it.
- Quality of materials seem better.

I knew I bought my A4 for a reason.
Audis don’t make sense on paper. They often make a lot better sense once you drive one. But not for everyone.

Please spare me the whole cost for maintenance speech, the TLX has proven to be pricey when off warranty with all the reported problems so far (just the active mounts and vibrations can be a pain). Now that it has tech, it's comparable to Audi for fixes.

Alright time for me to be the bad/good guy again(depending on if one is either a Acura OR Audi lover).
Truedelta.com shows Audi A4 LONG term reliability to be well below average(2009-2012 & 2013-2016), while Acura TL(because TLX is relatively new) to be better than average. TLX is well below average(but it's not long term).
keyword is LONG TERM.

I really hate not knowing what to do as I may be over analyzing this. That being said I hope the tech being show in in the new Lexus LS 500h will be in the new ES 350h as they seem to have a pretty good track record.

Audi has been improving since about 2009, if I'm not mistaken. They didn't get up to the top of the charts over night. Every generation, or even MMC seemed to improve something. Me being the paranoid car buyer I am, I would be skeptical to buy a 2012 Audi. Still a little hesitant with a 2015. I know that's not a very long time. But they have to start somewhere. It's really the last 2 or 3 years I would be comfortable with buying a used Audi. My only issue now is they killed the 6MT off in the 2016 S4

Looking for a 2017 A4, however I would have preferred to skip the 1st year model. Transmission seems to be new. Engine seems to have been installed earlier with the 2016 A6.

You could trust the 2017 A4, was released in Europe before. If anything, get a late 2017 build.

Yeah, mine is temporary. Going to replace it in a couple of years with a permanent car. Leaning towards a P+ S4

This is so true. What I have found is that most people who knock them have never even driven one, or took one on a 10 min test drive around the block at the dealer and this somehow made experts in bashing them.

One feature I thought could have been implemented better on the A4 is the Blind Spot monitor. It didn't beep at all and only flashed.
For the TLX it beeps if you have the indicator on and a car is in your blindspot. I think that's very helpful.

It depends, I find it's better this way since it's much less annoying. Similar to how some models scream at you when crossing a line compare to simply vibrating the wheel.

Exactly what I would say about the TLX. Obviously we can see many more of the german cars owners spending time here than TLX owners being on the german car forums. I find the A4 extremely boring. Might reconsider with a S4, for which *at least* the engine sound is not a problem..

What I find funny is that you do realize that these German car owners that are on Azine were former Acura owners. 2001+ more than likely, they have formed relationships with people on the forums (sounds weird) and they enjoy the company, hence why they stick around on the forum. I know that's why I stick around.

I can't speak for them, but I can speak for myself... I have been a big Acura fan, I have owned Acura's since 2004 and still own one today, some of the best vehicles I have ever owned. I haven't bought a new Acura since 2011 even though I really wanted to.. You see I have a great relationship with my dealer, especially the service people so of course I would want another Acura. As a matter of fact, me and my SA were texting last Friday night just to catch up.. IMO that is something you can't put a price on.
So back in 2014 we considered our third MDX, we test drove a 2015 Tech but were left disappointed after an extended test drive..So we bought a Lexus.. In late 2015 we test drove a 2016 TLX , my oldest son would be purchasing it and since he loved the 4G TL he wanted another Acura. Another extended test drive and we were once again left disappointed. Granted, looks are subjective but IMO the TLX just blended in with everything else on the road, it's not bad looking at all just bland (at least the A-Spec has taken care of that).
But the biggest let down was the trans and it's hard/ jerky shifting. I understand Acura has since worked on the trans, but back then it was a deal breaker.. So he bought a 2015 AWD Q50S, and 2 years and 26K trouble free miles later we have no regrets and would buy another tomorrow. It's a fun car to drive..
IMO you always seem to take it personal, almost like you have vested interest in Acura when someone bashes an Acura product.. But think about it for moment before you react... Maybe, just maybe they are bashing it out of frustration in regards to how disappointed they have been with the Acura today, compared to the Acura they used to know??

Well maybe it's because there are a lot of former or current Acura owners on this forum who now own a German car?
Have you even had seat time behind the wheel of an Audi?

Does the A4 BSP blink for ALL cars in it's blind spot OR only when the turn indicator is activated and at that time some car is in your blindspot?

For a car in the blind spot with signal off it lights the indicator steadily.
I find it strikes a good balance of effectiveness and unobtrusiveness. I shut off the steering wheel shake too. That annoyed me.

Sorry that doesn't cut it. Or audi forums are boring (like their cars)?
Of course and mind you, they are very ordinary to drive. Nothing inspiring, just competent and dull. I wouldn't have never said that about my old '86 Audi 5000TQ I owned for 7 years. I was an huge VW/Audi fan between late '70s up to '00 or so Then BMW won me for while.... until their zest factor went the same way as Audi.

I come here for the company, even if it cost me a temp ban because of your BS....

I test drove an 18 A4 Quattro an hour after testing the V6 ASpec SHAWD, they are both good cars and fun to drive, the Audi is every bit as quick as the TLX. I generally prefer a 6 cylinder over a 4, a no replacement for displacement kind of thing. There is also the issue of the previous Audi 4 cylinder engines burning oil like it was going out of style, although I have heard they have since fixed that problem.
My wife prefers the Audi but I still haven't made a decision on which one to get yet, even more so after seeing the RDX reveal and the new electronics and SHAWD systems coming. I haven't written off the TLX yet and go back and forth on the two cars.
Maybe do yourself a favor and test drive the A4, you might be pleasantly surprised even if you don't like them.
