^^ Not trying to sound rude but you should have combined the two questions in the same thread...Moderators, any chance you could merge?
...and what is the question? Premium is recommended means that Acura recommends you use it but you don't have to.

Yes, you will want to use 91 octane or higher for the fuel (for both the 4 and 6 cylinder engines).

Pardon the friendly ribbing, but it is helpful if you ask more specific questions. What exactly is your concern about premium fuel? What do you care about in engines? Etc.
For example:
"What do you think about premium fuel" can be answered in all the ways you see above. "What happens if I choose to use regular fuel in my TLX?" is what I think you might have been going for, in which case the answer is you lose gas mileage, engine performance and longevity. You may also experience knock if the fuel is crappy.
Do you see the difference?

This has been an ongoing discussion/argument for a long time. It went on in the 3G and 4g and already here in the TLX (5G) forum. You can use any fuel but with what you save in using regular, you lose in efficiency of the engine (combustion) as well as knocking with less octane, the anti-knock additive.

Better mileage, further on a tank, and smoother/quicker operation on Premium to the point for the couple of dollars you might save, you will still spend less to run higher octane as you'll go that much further on a tank and enjoy the difference.
We've tried it year after year even on cars such as an older ILX with the 2.0L, and it still makes a noteworthy difference, and you go further on a tank with a more responsive car.

OP, you've been making these sorts of threads since Feb.

you get the same answers over and over and over again.

Well, since this thread has gone a bit astray anyway, I'll add to the collective and ask if anyone has tried using an even higher octane fuel, and if so, has there been any noticeable effect? I'd look online, but I would rather hear it from members who actually may have some data to back it up with. On a side note, I've still only used Premium to fill my car up, but I might try 1 tank of regular to see if there's any difference. I agree with the members who say what you save in fuel costs you may negate with performance and efficiency.

we have found by hooking up a knock monitor that the knock goes away at 96 octane.
since the TLX is using the same engine and I believe the same compression rate as the TL, I believe one could benefit from a higher octane fuel on a race track (not so much for normal every day driving)
two ways to increase octane; adding toluene or mixing a higher octane (100) with a lower octane (93) to come up some where in the middle.

Your engine would be putting out less power if ran on regular gas as opposed to premium. There'd be no point to get the V6 if you're going to put regular gas in it. You're essentially paying for more power and not utilizing it.
Whether it is safe to run regular is still up in the air. People have been doing it for a long time without their engines dying. But there's no denying there's less power, and the potential for pre-ignition/pulled timing.
What is also debatable is whether or not your fuel economy will go down. Some say yes, some say no. If true, it doesn't really make sense to save on gas but then have to fill up more often.
By the end of the day, it's up to you. Acura recommends premium. However, the wording in the owners manual has been debated to death and beyond.

It's not regular fuel. It must be "special" fuel that lets you travel 20 years back in time... or run on a track that permanently closed 10 years ago!
Cool!
(Carlsbad Raceway closed in 2004; time trial ticket is dated in 1995! Did they have TLX's back then??)
