May Sales

Another solid month. Second consecutive month over 4,000 units, fifth straight month of month-to-month growth. The TLX is on pace for over 43,000 sales - and that is the low end estimate now probably as the slowest months of the year (Jan/Feb) are out of the way.
Also Acura had a great month overall - up 16%.

Article From JD Power. Acura, overall (not just the TLX).
"The major luxury brands continued to outperform the industry, including Acura (+16.1%), Audi (+11%), BMW (+4.7%), Mercedes-Benz (+12%), and Lexus (+10.2%)."

The TLX so far is selling significantly less than the TSX/TL combo from 2010 to 2012.
Sales of TSX and TL were never in 3 Series territory (at least from 2009 on). BMW published numbers always include the coupe and the wagon, you are not going to get close to these figures with only one body style and less engine choices.

From May 2010
TL: 2925 TSX: 2808 = 5733
From May 2011
TL: 2197 TSX: 1751 = 3948
From May 2012
TL: 3662 TSX: 2880 = 6542
From May 2015
ILX: 1673 TLX: 4352 = 6025
So the numbers show that the new line up of entry level and mid level is about on par with the old. They did goof up this transition, but they have taken steps with the ILX to rectify it, and the TLX seems to be finding its way.

I want the car to succeed and I want the sales volumes to keep going up and up, but I really like that I'm apparently the only TLX for miles as I've yet to see one in my normal driving. The only other car I had that was equally rare was my Dodge Stealth RT turbo, but there were still others of a different color around.

The TSX was Acura's entry level car, the TL its mid level car. Acura re-aligned these roles in their line up, which you of course know. So if you want to compare more apples to apples you should look at the TSX/TL and ILX/TLX.

I see what you are saying but I do not believe the ILX has any overlapping with the TLX as the TSX had with the TL.
The ILX is simply too small and with a too unrefined ride to attract many TSX-TL or TLX shoppers, it belongs to a different market segment where Acura did not compete before its debut.
Acura corporate sales numbers are up but we are talking about a specific segment....Acura consolidated the TSX-TL combo into the TLX so I do not think the ILX should enter the picture. Event the much maligned pre-refresh ILX (which debuted in mid 2012) with the TSX and TL still in place, was able to pull 1500+ pieces a month (with few peaks of 2000+)

I would agree with the numbers not being quite as good as people think due to the consolidation of the TL/TSX models, if you are viewing it 4G vs 5G, which may vary in of itself. It's amazing what a difference perspective makes.
The TL/TSX/RL overlap was probably a part of the problem and you do have to seriously take the ILX into consideration but as do you the previous RL which was much closer aligned with the TL and TSX than the RLX is with the current models. Combined with the fact that the ILX is intro'd for a newer market, deducting the RL factor where maybe a hundred or two go for a TLX instead of where they used to get an RL over a TL.
Hard to get a solid read on the in between the line stuff however it's probably safe to say that as a generational change the current TL version is not really doing much better if that. Think it will continue to improve however but it's a far cry from the 70k from the 3G years that everyone seemed to think the 4G styling was responsible for.
Certainly we have different lines and landscapes as we always do but this car very much reminds me of the 3G and hits on nearly all the great selling points the 3G did, and some more maybe but I don't think it's hitting that kind of sales mark. However I think Acura knew that and is ok with it at the same time because having removed a model and using a cheaper platform as an entry base, I would imagine they are making more money as a result of the same type of sales and that is probably more important.

Haven't been on this side of the forums in awhile, but I'm glad the TLX is selling well. In my area I've seen a few. I still think BWP is the best color for this car while CBP is a very close second.
Edit: Now if only honda would bring the prototype's exterior color as an option.... that would've been the best color.

The TLX is our top selling model at our dealership, we can't seem to hold on to them....which is good! :P
Proud to be a great part of Acura's history here.
