Installed the Splash Guards

Installed the Splash Guards
I bought the front and rear splash guards for my graphite luster metallic. I installed them today. I've always like the looks of splash guards to add a little extra to the wheel well areas.
Front ones are easy. They do have one of those "center pop out" clips on each side you have to remove and put back. Not incredibly difficult, but they aren't exactly easy to reach/see to remove. I had to do it by feel.
Rear ones are a pain, mostly because of the tightly spaced area in which you have to work. There's a center screw you have to add when installing the additional bracket -- it's the most difficult of the screws to insert. One thing I did notice as a result of the rear install. Without the splash guards in place, the rear wheel well liner just kind of hangs freely / flaps just behind the rear wheel -- there's nothing attaching it to anything. Never noticed this before, but never really have had a reason to either. But the addition of the rear splash guards secures the liner and stiffens the liner fit -- makes it appear and feel more "finished".
Sorry -- didn't take any piictures...car isn't clean enough. Will post some if anyone is interested, tho.

Interested for sure. I'm picking up my V6 Tech in GLM on Tuesday night and I already ordered splash guards as part of my $500 accessory allowance. I kind of thought they'd dress it up in a very subtle way and maybe help keep road splash under control.

In case anyone needs to reference the installation instructions.

If you get the chance, please post pics. Especially if it's a white car. For now I've talked myself out of getting them even though I've had them on my last 2 cars, and you're making it sound like they're more of a pain in the butt to install than I thought it could be.

The installation can be done by anyone who's "handy", and has a good assortment of phillips screwdrivers - you definitely need a "stubby" one. The first front (driver side) I did went really fast -- less than 10 minutes. The passenger side took about 20 -- I had trouble releasing the clip I mentioned.
The first rear (driver) took me probably 30 minutes. I was having a major struggle getting that center screw started, and I accidentally didn't put the bottom portion of the splash guard above & inside the fender bottom (I left it hanging where the screw clip was below and visible...stupid, so I had to remove it and then re-attach). The passenger rear took me about 15 minutes.
So in terms of time overall it wasn't pain. It's just that the tight confines of it all makes it a pain. Being 6'4" didn't help matters. If I had a 2nd TLX to do, I'd wager I could do all four in less than an hour now that I've done a set.

Sounds like it would be much easier if you pull the rear wheels off to have that extra room. If you can't pull the wheels then get a special philips that looks like a bent pencil with tips on the ends ( ^-----v ). Those work pretty well.

I will admit though -- a black car when it's clean does look amazing!! (and so does Graphite Luster Metallic!)

It's 30% all around. I have had good experience with Llumar tint products, so I stayed with the brand and a local Denver tint place I've done business with before. CTX30 it is (it's a ceramic tint).
And, off-topic for me: Denver got hail today. My TLX has lots and lots of little dents scattered across it. Off to repair it will go....

Dent Doctor should be able to pop out all the dents and restore the finish perfectly without the need for repaint, and it should be covered by your insurance.

And Keith (kmelkild), I'm trying my best to be in better spirits. Just trying to stay above it -- no sense getting ticket off or stressed. Was totally out of my control. I'm pretty OCD when it comes to my car, tho. The dents will drive me bonkers for the next four weeks.

Hate to thread jack, but still don't understand why there's that (microscopically) wavy line in the side rocker panel. It's not even a styling crease, more like the bottom and top halves of the skirt were glued together, or a long piece of tape carelessly applied to its lower edge. And to think they even bragged about how this was "one-piece for a cleaner look" in one of the TLX intro videos Nice car and color choice otherwise

Years ago it was an extra cost option on some US luxury cars (Lincoln). Now it is standard on most of the better cars. VW and Audi have used it for decades.
