This is what I dont get. How does writing long posts talking about turboes and other brands mpg contribute to the thread??? Uhm off topic much?

Since we are off topic anyway:

@Bear: I dont disagree with your technical explanation. They are perfectly good. But if you want to raise hell with Acura Marketing, write to them directly. I have learned a lot from your posts. And that is you drive a BMW. It is reliable, powerful, efficient, fun, cheap to maintain and superior to any Acuras.

Sir, Acura hasnt released their 3.0t because they are not ready for whatever reason. Perhaps, they are waiting for an appropriate transmission, or its still under long term testing, or it needs some tweaking for reliablity, etc. I am sure Acura Engineering almost has a bunch of engines developed and under testing. They dont need another bad press on their engineering. Do you think at this time they should stick with a reliable V6 NA or a somewhat unreliable 3.0t?
Agree they did jump the gun with the ZF9. That said they do have a very nice EPA certified 303HP 2.0T in the CIVIC. I would think that engine with the real time active suspension, mechanical LSD & Michlen PPS tires would have been a nice I4 replacement for the current 206 BHP I4 when they did the A-Spec upgrade. It would have stepped on some V6 sales but I don't believe a large number of V6 cars are rolling out the door now. The V6 would have still had a lock on people who wanted SHAWD so the loss would be marginal.

Personally think the 2.0T would have made a great A-Spec model. They could have covered the bases by keeping the 206 BHP as the base (no pun in tended) entry level car.

At the end of the day instead of being the leading innovative flagship brand ACURA is sucking hind tit to the HONDA brand when it comes to product development, new features & overall enhancements. In other brands the new stuff trickles down from the flagship.

I used to care about my mileage but lately I don't even bother with it. I just try to enjoy driving the car. I'm hard on the gas pedal and don't expect good mileage, I just want to enjoy the drive. It is about the only fun I have during the day is driving the car. If it costs me a few more fill ups over the course of a year than so what. Out of all my living expenses it is pretty minor. I do know that on long highway trips even above 65 mph I can be in the low to mid 30 mpg. About the only good thing I can say about the 9-speed is that it cruises on the highway very efficiently. But that is the minority of my driving.

Don't worry... be happy...

Conversation isn't a one topic kind of thing... conversation ebs and flows. Since we have solved the OPs problem, it's okay to have side chatter.
Plus, I find talking about other cars interesting. Fuel mileage is boring to some, but it's kinda interesting to me. It's also fun to keep learning about other things!!

Shorter drives maybe? Sport mode? Disable auto stop/ start? My commute is 45-60 minutes each way.

That makes a lot of sense. Climate is an issue (long, hot summers) in Austin.

Originally from Chicago, though, so I don't miss your winters.

Apparently a little over inflation of the tires helps MPG? The Costco tire center technician suggested I pump them up to 35 psi instead of the factory recommended 32 psi. I have noticed a 1-1.5 MPG increase since. It’s just that after some driving, even in the mild winter, the car computer says the tire pressure is at 38-39 psi range. Isn’t that too high?

I reset my mileage and with only one work day (rush hour stop and go traffic), my mileage is up to 19.5 mpg. Not great, but better. I had to drive to work twice at non-rush hour times during this period.

Should not be for the tires to be sure the max inflation pressure is on the sidewall. Lots of different "stock" pressures on the door stickers for the same tires on different cars. Key is the overall weight of the car will change the sticker recommendations for a specific size. One way to tell, quick & dirty, if you have too much for your car is to get some white liquid shoe polish. Get the pressure where you want it the paint a stripe acoss the tread & wrap it up over the lower sidewall. Let it dry the take a somewhat aggressive run over the roads you use. When you get home if the middle of the tread has less or no shoe polish the tires are over inflated. If the outer edges are warn or with no polish remaining the tires don't have enough air. If the part of the tire that rolls up onto the side wall is warn you also do have enough air for the level you are pushing the car through turns.

FWIW with each tank of gas, my mileage is increasing noticeably in the 2018 3.5L V6 FWD TLX I bought at the beginning of December 2017. I was freaking out at 14 MPG w/the first tank, now several tanks of gas in to my ownership and I'm up to about 22MPG, worrying less and less... I do hope the mileage creeps up to ~25MPG "mixed" before too long though...

Should be in the owners book. That said 500/1000 miles whatever is not going to reach optimum fuel usage. A tight engine (stacked tolerances) could take as much as 20K miles to peak,
