Got rid of my TLX.... sorta

It’s a sad day for me.... sort of, I decided to get for rid of my TLX after a year and upgrade to a 2018 Lexus GS350 F Sport. I still own the TLX as I plan on giving it to my mom and get rid of her Accord. I had a 15 Advance model then sold it and went to a 16 Advance model so roughly 3 years with a TLX. I had a love hate relationship with the car. I loved it cause I thought as far as for the money it was a steal and had some awesome features and options but I felt like it was a little behind the time for when it came out. As the years kept going on I kept hoping they would make strides to put a bigger emphasis on making Acura stand out more but when they released the new Accord something in me was just bothered that they loaded that car up with options and it was 10k cheaper than what I was driving and I just started getting a bitter taste about driving it. Why pay premium dollar and not have the most premium car? I love the GS so far, there are certain options I will be losing but I have gained a ton so I can not complain. Feels weird driving a Lexus cause I was not a fan at all but I decided to go sit in one while shopping for the NX for my girl and felt like “wow, this is a luxury car!” I am happy that I will be upgrading my moms 16 Accord with my TLX knowing it has a lot more safety features and compared to the 16 Accord it will be an upgrade for my mom. I plan on still being an Acura groupie though and looking for what Acura does in the future but for now, I needed a change.

Congrats. Well I’d hope it feels premium cause after options it’s almost 15,000 more than the TLX lol

Exactly. The GS is nice car for sure, but at +$15000 I would have leaned toward something else than this outgoing model, soon to be replaced.

There's something to be said for getting the last model before a refresh - typically those tend to be the most reliable and you can push for decent discounts.

Congrats! I actually like the Lexus Predator-mouth grille, so yeah, I'm weird. The GS is a looker, as well, in that color.

You haven't left the TLX fam though, since your car is staying in the family.

Yeah I was cross-shopping the GS350 with the RLX, TLX and the Accord and it simply didn't make sense to pay more for three out-dated cars in the GS, RLX, and TLX which will be updated in the next few years instead of something that is fresh and explosive like the NACOTY, so glad I waited. This was the car I originally planned on getting over my current TLX and I regret that decision everyday. Got a smoking deal on the brand new TLX ($27k OTD) compared to a CPO GS350 and bought it anyways knowing the issues it had. The TLX is a decent commuter car for now, but is missing that premium feeling that both my 2G and 3G TL had. Once my commute goes down, I'll definitely be trading it in.

+1 My dad was able to score a new W211 E-class during its last model year for almost $20k off sticker granted this was also during the 2009 financial crisis and he paid cash, but still...
