Extended Warranty Question

Hello everyone,

I'll be picking up my TLX SH-AWD Advance on Saturday. My salesman asked me today if I wanted to purchase Acura's extended warranty. I told him no, that maybe in a year or two I might consider getting it depending if the car developed a lot of problems during the first 2 years. He told me that Acura has changed it's policy and the extended warranty had to be purchased at vehicle delivery. I know that wasn't the case when I purchase my '04 TL. Can anyone tell me if what he said is true or was he just feeding me a load of crap?

Thanks!

I know you have to get the extended warranty at time of purchase for CPO cars, but I'm not sure if that's the case for new cars. The only explicit info I can find is some older stuff that says the car must have <50,000 miles and be 2011 or newer. The only info I could find officially from Acura was this somewhat vague paragraph:

Coverage for a New Plan begins when the vehicle is originally put into service and at zero miles. Coverage for Pre-Owned and Powertrain Plans begins on the vehicle service contract purchase date and at the mileage on the odometer on that date. The Acura New Vehicle Limited Warranty and Acura Care Vehicle Service Contract cover similar components and provide similar benefits. The Vehicle Service Contract coverage of those components and services begins when the New Vehicle Limited Warranty coverage has expired.
So it says coverage begins at 0 miles when the car is brand new, but it doesn't say if the contract must be purchased at that time.

I bought my TLX on Valentine's Day (2/14/15) and the finance manager tried to sell me all the additional warranties, but he told me I had time to decide if I wanted to purchase the extended. I normally don't get any extra warranties on anything, but it's always a nice option. Acura may have changed their philosophy on this matter, but at that time, he said I could wait.
