To Buy or Not to Buy? 2016 TLX AWD To Be Exact
Hi all!
First timer here after long months of lurking. I had to register really to get this question out of the way, and I really needed more than my own opinion about this.
Long story short, I've had my Mazda 3 for about 14 years (first year model), and it's finally hit the rough spot after 171k miles. I've been looking at used Acura, Lexus, Infiniti, and Audi sedans, and I keep coming back to the TLX for the value proposition in regards to the mileage to price ratio. I've found almost the perfect one in that regard: a 2016 TLX SH-AWD With the Advance package for $25,600 with 25k miles. Clean CARFAX, looks good, drives well etc.
That being said, with everything I've read about the vibration (from the subframe) and transmission issues, I'm a bit leery. So folks, I need help: do I purchase the vehicle or pass?
(I will say this one thing: after being in my Mazda 3 for years with an adjustable suspension and being lowered 1", this vibration issue might not bother me. )
Thanks for the opinions!

I've already test driven several TLX and definitely love the car. So there's that.
Seems like 2016 models had less issues? This one was manufactured in 4/2016

As I’ve indicated on several occasions, my 16 V6 PAWS has been trouble free. Generally speaking, it’s my opinion that the 15 model is the version that’s most problematic, which goes to the ‘proverb’ that one should avoid purchasing cars produced during its first model year. (I.e.: 07 335i, 02 M3, etc,...)

Hi CommanderPaco,
I own a 2016 TLX SH-AWD. The only complain I have and in court with Acura about this, is the "vibration" issue . So if vibrations does not bother you, it is a very nice and comfortable car. Don't expect the performance of a BMW or Audi.
I found that the TLX resale value drop a lot quicker than any other luxury brand. Too bad.
Thanks, Mickey
