Black interior ceiling and pillars?
Does it bother anyone else that even with the Ebony interior color, the TLX's ceiling and pillar are still grey and not black. Most luxury car brands have black as a standard color for its pillars and ceiling right?

I don't get too worked up about the color of the pillars and headliner in my black TLX. I think it's probably more prevalent than you think. My 08 CTS was all black but it also had the cream/tan colored pillars and headliner.
I don't know what the other "upscale" cars have in them, but I don't mind having a little break from all the black. It could also have something to do with eye fatigue or some other type of study determining reason.

Most japanese car brands with black interior still have lighter colored roofs. I believe maybe bmw and merc do all black but youll be surpsrised to see most cars do lighter roofs. Feels more open and bigger inside

Lighter definitely more open feeling--I have black as the upgrade on an F-Sport NX and it is more closed-in feeling. Black does seem to improve interior glare in the summer. Agreed most Japanese brands keep a lighter roof trim.

Infiniti was putting black pillars and ceiling in their Sport models, my M37S had is by default. My Audi A6 it was an option that I ordered. I believe the reluctance is that black pillars and ceiling make the interior feel smaller, but I don't care I wants it.

buy some automotive fabric dye and go to town
For the price of the TLX, I'm happy that they offer as many interior color options as they do rather than the typical parchment/ebony choice. I wouldn't mind having the option to get the black trim or other "custom" enhancements but acura is never going to do that unless it's the NSX.

I think that most auto makers only have black headliners in its sport or ultra luxury models (or as an option) - Maybe if the TLX has an Aspec trim, it'll get the black headliner too? I believe that the ILX's with A-Spec package has a black headliner, and other luxury models (CTS, Genesis, X3, X5, 3, 4, and 5 Series, etc) don't have it as standard on black interior cars, although many (at least the Germans) have it as an option as far as I know.

Honestly, I don't mind and like the two tone look.

it comes down to volume and profit, Acura only sells 10% of the cars Honda does. Where something may be profitable for honda it may not be for Acura due to lower sales.

Black headliner is used in the '16 Accord Coupe also- which is a low volume vehicle, on par with TLX sales or fewer.
