Anyone with mirror puddle lights? And/or 360° view

Hi,

After doing the conversion to Advance mirrors on the A-Spec, someone asked me about the puddle lights. I don't know their natural use or state. In fact, I'm not even sure if my mirrors have them. I tried to find something on youtube and what I found was someone who added them to a different car and just made them flash along with the turn signal.

What is the natural state of the puddle lights? When do they come on? Are they normally flashing along with the turn signals for some reason? Any info is appreciated.

As for the 360° view, in the normal state for this, do the cameras activate with the turn signal of that side and show up on infotainment screen? Or what is their normal state?
Can you force them to stay on while driving? Or when parked?

Thanks for any info on these things

I'm pretty sure you'd need to swap out the switch assembly for the navigation unit, "Switch Assembly, Multi Jog (Navigation)" part number 39050-TZ3-A41 or39050-TZ3-A51. It seems attaching anything isn't working for me right now, but I do have some diagrams for this...

Thanks, I'll take a look. You're quite the mvp for these diagrams. Out of curiosity, and maybe a bit early since I haven't gone over these diagrams yet, but how did you arrive at needing an additional part? Exit: Was it this?

I think it could be worth checking out which wires carry the video signal and knowing that for people in the future. They may want to integrate it into a different display if making it work with the intended 360 infotainment system is more work or too much money.

I have to be honest, as much as I'm glad I got the mirrors working, I really do wonder if I should have just bought the Advance interior (left and right side is how they're sold if I remember correctly) and Dash harnesses, pulled the carpet and swapped them over. Swapping that dash harness would be infinitely annoying I bet. But it would answer some questions for future tlx modders.

Maybe I can pull out an old monitor and run the mirror camera signal to it in some way to help those future people. I'm off to take a look at the diagrams. They probably won't tell me exactly how the puddle lights behave normally so I'm still looking for that from anyone that finds this.

Thanks again MVP

You may be right. I compared them, parts# wise, and a41 is for A-Spec and A51 is for adv. From your diagram, the cameras all plug in to a Multi View Camera Unit. I don't know yet whether those are different parts between the two trims. It looks like it goes from the MVCU to the navigation unit and down to the Multi Jog. I'm wondering if the appropriate video firmware and processor is inside of the MJ and that's why it's different? 🤔 Or if there's just something physical like a button or backlight color wise that's different for the ADV. I would expect the video processor and firmware to be in the MVCU as it looks like wires from that to the navigation are limited. It must be combined and sent over a single wire or pair. There's not 16 wires going from the MVCU to the navigation down to the MJ. Only 16 to the MVCU.
Finding the MVCU to see how many plugs it has would be interesting. It says left side of dash. That's pretty close to the mirror and if I grabbed the 4 wires used, I could try to build something to plug in and see what happens without the MJ. I'll do some more research
thanks again as always 🥳

That part is needed because the advance has an additional camera button that other trims don't.

Maybe these will help w/ the connectors.

I realized that later, about the button. It seems to be just a single green wire and I'm sure it's already there or can be added easily. The concern I have is the MVCU. I think it's part number 36500-TZ3-A01 and 36500-TZ3-A11
aside from being $800-1800 for them, it says it's a different part number for the two trims. And neither part number is for 2019 A-Spec so I might be missing a part number

I do believe those are the parts as I found a 36500-TZ3-A01 yesterday on ebay and the connectors match what you've posted

I think this may be the part:

Control Unit, Electronic (Camera) - Acura (36500-TZ3-A11)

Also, looking at the connector info, it's interesting that it has w/ auto-idle stop and w/o auto-idle stop. W/o looking, it make me think that it may be already be installed.

The replacement procedures have you removing the Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Boxes, then the Parking and Backup Sensor Control Unit. So, it would tucked up in that area somewhere.
