Any reliable info on 2016 TLX changes, new models, and ETA?

So Acura Canada has dropped the FWD V6 for 2016. Not surprised. there will be an initial supply of Aspec TLX's which will essentially be a TLX with a bodykit and 19inch rims and tires. they also state the vehicle will be a carry over. The 2016 will be in dealerships in Oct.
BTW, good riddance to the FWD V6. The salesman accidentally had me drive that instead of the SH-AWD the first time I went to test drive (needless to say, not buying from that guy, lol). Probably because it's missing an LSD like my '07 TL-S, it feels like the front end is not well behaved under hard acceleration (torque steer is worse), and in bad weather conditions (it was raining the day I test drove both that and the SH-AWD model). Didn't Acura Canada sell mostly I4 Tech's and V6 SH-AWD Tech's anyway?

When will Acura Announce 2016 info
Lexus just announced info on 2016 GS

I do like the look of this car. I think it's a competitor with the TLX.

Amen to that. Prior to "the grill" I thought Lexus designed some of the best looking cars on the planet - they've clearly shifted their target market with the grill and the random swoops and whatnot.

no it's not. it's a class above TLX. heck, it was always head and shoulder above the old TL, what makes you think the TLX (slotted between TSX and TL) is in the same class as GS? TLX's realistic competitors are Caddy ATS, Inifiniti Q50, and Lexus ES

ES is complete joke. very poor handling.
2015 Acura TLX test track review, The FastLane Car
Hot lap number one, yielded a time of 1:17. For Hot lap number two, the traction control was disengaged and a sport mode was utilized. The result was a lap time of nearly five seconds better, at 1:12. The Acura TLX makes its way around the test track with fairly impressive numbers for a modern luxury car. Even more so, the TLX does its laps in the most planted and composed fashion, never losing grip or confidence in the capability of the car. The all new TLX looks to be a home run for the team Acura in mid-sized luxury car segment.

Interesting. I'm getting a 2016, so I'll ask you if you know whether or not the A-spec package can be added to any trim level? I kind of have my heart set on the V6 Elite SH-AWD, and I'd like the A-spec to go with it. I'm guessing the A-spec bodykit is different than the one you could just accessory install for 2015?

One thing that annoys me slightly is when a reviewer says something like: the Mercedes C-class, Lexus, or whatever, has a slightly nicer interior, or is faster, or whatever, without mentioning the price difference. Well, no doubt with a list price $10-15k higher they are nicer in some areas. But not everyone wants to spend that much on a car.

I work at Silverhill Acura and my TLX was leased and not a demo. I also have a 2014 RDX and a 05 BMW M3. I need a winter vehicle so I will be back in the market again this fall perhaps buying another RDX due to the strong resale.

Don't start something if you don't even understand the layout of the Acura lineup. The V6 TLX is the TL replacement. It's not slotted in between. Please.

I'm hoping for any changes at all, even different colour choices. It's disappointing if what he said about A-spec is how I'm interpreting it (ie: Acura just bundled the body kit pieces from 2015 together into a package and called it A-spec).

it is a dealer installed kit. Similar if not identical to the Launch kit which was available on the 2015.

The current TLX has all of the AcuraWatch features, but separated on trim level. However, for 2016 Acura in the US has made AcuraWatch an option package that you can add to the base or Tech level and don't need to buy the Advanced trim to get all the safety features. So to be consistent, there should be new TLX base with AcuraWatch and TLX Tech with AcuraWatch trims,
In Canada with its lower volume, Acura Canada for its 2016 models has decided to make AcuraWatch standard. So even a base ILX or RDX now have features like ACC, CMBS and LKAS. The only thing they lack are the the blind-spot radar (and the rear cross traffic monitoring feature that requires it) that remains part of a higher trim.
If Acura Canada was to remain consistent for the 2016 TLX, then the base model should get a major upgrade in safety features.

The Lexus IS has always been in my mind the equivalent of the TL/TLX. Not the GS.
If anything the GS and the RLX are more in line with being comparable vehicles. From there, Acura doesn't have anything that competes with the LS. Completely different class vehicle and price point.

I was considering waiting to see if Android Auto would come, but already considered that very unlikely when you look at the other 2016 Acuras that don't have it. But then I realized it's not really a big deal.

Have you seen anything other than the Canada dealer person indicating no change?

Does anyone know what the service interval on the ZF is...ie...can you do a 3 x 3 on the ATF? I was reading (maybe here) that some cars are going to sealed automatic transmissions....no service. When they fail then just replace.
#188
I'm still waiting for the official word on the 2016. I never thought there would be major changes, but I was hoping for a definitive fix for the 9ZF at least. Although I'm increasingly doubtful Acura even knows what the problem is. I'd love to see Car Play but that would not be a deal breaker for me. The transmission issue may be a deal breaker. Maybe Acura should begin offering a special warranty on the 9ZF to entice customers to forget about the transmission problems.

I received some unreliable information last week when I went to test drive the TLX. I was sitting in one at the front of the store, and the salesman pointed out that it was a 2015 model. I asked him if he had any information on changes on the 2016 model. He said they had just received some, and that there were minor changes. Since I was sure he did not know what he was talking about, I did not ask to see the 2016s that they had just received. I test drove a 4 cyl, and was disappointed by the sluggish acceleration. It seemed much slower than my 04 TSX. I had test driven another 4 cyl a month earlier, and did not notice the slow acceleration.

I doubt that they will extend the warranty for everyone, since doing so will in essence be an admission that something is wrong with the transmission. I suspect it is more likely that they might do case by case exceptions for problems that arise after the regular warranty expires.

I just did a search on cars.com and it shows 13,000 new 2015 TLX's in the US. Wow, can that be right? That is nearly 3 months supply. I guess we won't be seeing 2016's anytime soon.

My local Acura dealer has 55 listed. Their sister dealership farther away lists another 49. The local one actually just called a family member of mine that looked at a TL about 7 months ago, offering an "even better dealer than before", so you know they are getting desperate.
Pohanka Acura in Virginia shows 286 (!!!) and thats actually low for them....at one point they had something like 450.

Around me a lot of them are the less popular color options, fully loaded ones, or earlier builds which I don't want. Hard to find white or black with espresso interior with 2.4L.

No changes for 2016.
We've already ordered them, and 2015 production just wrapped up. 2016's start the last few days of September/first week of October for production.
Same colors, same trim levels. Nothing else is known, just the same car.

I think people saw the anomaly of a big change from the first two years of the current gen Honda Civic. That was definitely a unique situation and not really applicable to the current TLX. I doubt any changes other than MAYBE the addition or deletion of a color will be made to the car.

Hey Beach, do you have press release/ order invoice etc. stating no changes for the 2016 TLX? I'll wait till I hear from Acura to get the facts on the 2016 TLX.

with the extra long tenure of '15 model, i can see a very short life for the '16 model which according to number of sources has no or minimal changes. i can see Acura debuts the '17 TLX with substantial upgrades in spring of '16.
