Air Conditioner Cold on One side

I have a 2015 TLX (fortunately still under warranty). Today, on the first warm day of the year the air conditioner was only blowing cold air on the passenger side. When I called the dealership made an appointment, the dealer mentioned it may be low on Freon. How could low Freon cause cold air on one side only? Wouldn't a bad actuator or duct door in the dual-zone climate control be a more likely cause? Also, the owners manual mentioned refrigerant only being warranted for 2 years, is that correct?

I don't think the person answering the phone at the dealership is a tech... Probably trying to prepare the customer to upsell a A/C Service... Take it in with the complaint, and try to wait for it to make sure you can talk to the actual tech. Likely it's the driver's air mix control that is either stuck or not receiving a signal. (dual zone climate control has separate driver and passenger air mix control components).
